The UK’s leading sports bra brand. Shock Absorbers’ are designed to give the perfect fit and support.
Shock Absorber was launched in 1995 as a result of research by Edinburgh University which showed that wearing a sports bra whilst you exercise reduces breast movement, delaying long term sagging.
Originally designed and developed by the British lingerie brand Berlei, it became a brand in its own right in 2000.
Top athletes including Olympic Gold Medallist, Sally Gunnell, Anna Kournikova and Jade Johnson have helped develop the Shock Absorber product designs.

DEVELOPED FROM SCIENCE
We know the importance of breast support during exercise. Since our launch, the design and development of our sports bras have been underpinned by science. We commission research from the University of Portsmouth,
the world leaders in breast health, to test the performance of our products and we are continually testing and upgrading our performance fabrics to bring you cutting-edge breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics.
Most recent research showed that wearing a Shock Absorber RUN bra can reduce breast bounce by as much as 78%*, which is twice as much as a normal bra.
*University of Portsmouth (2009) Scurr et al. Tested against no bra conditions.

It does look supportive and I was considering keeping it for the cost of returns and squeezing my breasts and lungs into it on the days when they refuse to stop hurting even when I'm lying down. But then I figured life's too short to shove these jugs into extra pain and I've been trying out other sports/supportive bras (honestly, I don't do any sport, which is part of the reason these ladies have grown out of control and hurt constantly). One of my alternatives is close to the price I paid for this little corner of hell less the return cost, so I'll be getting another of those.
The alternative I will be ordering has a zip up front which is a delight compared to the convoluted multistrap arrangement of clasps on the back of this one.
Tldr; Support is high on this but the comfort is low, get a few sizes up and beware of return costs.
I ordered the pink/coral colour in a 30DD and 30E to compare sizing. Firstly, this sports bra is MUCH more brighter than the somewhat muted pink it appears to be in the Amazon photographs. It is a really, really nice and fun neon pink colour in person!
I have a large, noticeably bony rib cage that measures about 29" around and I wear an 8-10 in UK clothes. This 30 band bra measures only 22" unstretched! In fact, given that I could only stretch it to 26" in my hands, I'm sure you can imagine how tight it felt on me. It took me a good minute or so to even be able to fasten this bra. Even though it *looked* like the right size once it was fastened, I could feel the band pressing against my ribs when I tried taking a deep breath. As a result of my aforementioned bony rib cage, bra bands that fit too tight compress my ribs in a very uncomfortable way in general. This is obviously exacerbated and a big no-no in a sports bra where you'll be breathing more heavily from exertion!
I'm going to try reordering in the 32 back size if the price stays the same once I've returned the 30 band bras.
One annoying point I'd like to mention is that I ordered these bras along with some jeans that also unfortunately didn't fit. Amazon have now given me two different returns labels for my order which all arrived in one box, i.e., I now have to buy a box/shipping bag to return half of this order. I've had this happen previously with Amazon orders and really don't get why they do this.
I have found the fabric quality to be slightly different and that they are made by different manufacturers. I still much prefer the older version as the fabric is softer but these work just as great and fit the same!
I don't agree with the reviews that say they are too small! I'm a UK 34D/EU 75D, I wear a size 10, my under bust measures 30" - this does not mean I should be a 30 back as that is not how most bras are made. If you change size, change to a sister size and never stay with the same cup size - for example I would go from a 34D to 36C or 32DD. I used to work in a lingerie shop and a lot of women actually wear the wrong size. I would recommend that you get professionally measured or read up on how to correctly measure yourself but also remember that styles and sizing do vary between brands and manufacturer so you may not alway be the same size. The other thing is when you first wear/try a bra, wear it on the last outermost hook (not the tightest) as the bra loosens over time, you move onto the next hook to tighten.
There are two sets of hooks on the back which of course people have said is difficult to reach - I fasten up back to front and swivel round.. It's as simple as that!
