I'd give this an *almost* 4 stars overall. There were loads of things to really like about the book. Its a fun, paranormal romance story with a cool villain and a very lovable group of characters. Albert is the highlight of the book for me and I loved his interactions with both Chris and Griffin - I hope that he gets his own book.
When Chris and Lukas meet there are serious sparks and the chemistry between them is great the whole way through the story. I did find Chris a little whine-y though. Particularly initially - he asked a lot of repetitive questions until Lukas reveals he's a werewolf. There was a section early on in the story where Lukas and his brother Griffin were angsting over whether to tell Chris about the werewolf thing which was a bit drawn out, and I didn't quite get a handle on whether Chris's mum didn't like him dating full stop or had a problem with him being gay... she disappeared for the majority of the story which felt a bit *off* but perhaps we'll find out more about her later in the series! Once Chris, Lukas, Griffin and Albert leave Hunters Rock to find the other kid(s) who might be in danger from whoever is running round killing teenage shifters, the action and story really get going. The plot zips along at a much happier pace and with loads of crazy situations that the group have to work their way through, peppered with fun dialogue between the teenagers in particular. I really liked the way that although the main story is totally wrapped up, the end of the first book clearly points towards whatever is going to happen next in the series and I am looking forward to reading the next book!
Overall a really fun book and definitely well worth a read if you a fan of MM/paranormal romance.
