This is one of the best Sherman books going. In terms of detail and accuracy up there with Hunnicutt's Sherman 'bible' and Zaloga's Thunderbolt. Detailing development, production, deployment and with plenty photographs and unit records this was a 'can't put down' read. The only part that would need revisiting is the model section as Tasca have raised the bar with their new Sherman Firefly kits and the kits used are now long out of production or superceeded.

I purchased this a few weeks ago and am glad that I did. It tells you all you wanted to know about the Sherman Firefly and a lot more as well. It is full of original photographs, detailed statistics and line drawings. It gives the full history of this very important tank from its inception through to where the remaining vehicles can be found today. It ends with a large section on modelling, and although not something I do, it was interesting, and probably very useful to modellers. All in all a great book.

HASH(0x9c108edc) out of 5 stars Outstanding blend of research on a little covered topic 9 Nov. 2009

Like the P51 Mustang, the British Firefly represented a successful grafting of US manufacturing and English ingenuity. Armor fans and in particular Firefly enthusiasts previously had very little in the way of reference material. Mark Hayward presents an excellent blend of armor doctrine, development, deployment, and even a section devoted to scale modelers interested in recreating the Firefly in miniature. Highly recommended, 'Firefly' will remain the ultimate source on the Firefly for years to come.

HASH(0x9bcfbedc) out of 5 stars Amazing resource for modelling the firefly... 27 Jun. 2011
By Elizabeth M. Nickerson - Published on Amazon.com

This is easily the most complete book on the subject ever put together. A must have for anyone wanting to learn more about sherman tank history. Besides the information, the book includes diagrams, a ton of illustrations, and the author even includes a section on how to model the tanks themselves by making suggestions on what kits to use.
