About the Author

ANDREW MURRAY (1828-1917) was a church leader, evangelist, and missionary statesman. As a young man, Murray wanted to be a minister, but it was a career choice rather than an act of faith. Not until he had finished his general studies and begun his theological training in the Netherlands, did he experience a conversion of heart. Sixty years of ministry in the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, more than 200 books and tracts on Christian spirituality and ministry, extensive social work, and the founding of educational institutions were some of the outward signs of the inward grace that Murray experienced by continually casting himself on Christ. A few of his books include "The True Vine, Absolute Surrender, The School of Obedience, Waiting on God", and "The Prayer Life".

This is a fine idea for all those immersed in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's great creation, and it's pleasant for a reviewer to be able to say that if anyone is expecting to find all the answers in one place (i.e. the original sixty tales) then this book will oblige him/her to look much further, and while doing so learn a whole lot more. Just the thing for those long winter evenings.

I'm no expert but this is a really fun collection, suits anyone from a casual fan to the fairly hardcore. What I like is how it covers the popular culture of Holmes, whether you are a fan of Robert Downey, the BBC series, Basil Rathbone and so on. And the 'Elementary' section is a clever twist!

As a Benedict C and Robert D Jr fan (not to mention Jude L) this is a
great set of quizzes for fans of the Sherlock films and television
series. There's a good variety of topics, and questions for the
hardcore fan down to plenty the rest of us can have a go at!

HASH(0x8c859f84) out of 5 stars Sherlockian quiz book 22 May 2014
By B. Rossini - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Whether you’re “elementary, Watson” or whether observationally impressive, your skills will be tested in Andrew Murray’s new book The Sherlock Holmes Quiz Book. It’s also the perfect way to ease your discussion group into a Sherlockian reading habit. They’re going to want to explore further, as readers, historians and sinners, whether Holmes was on the money: “It is my belief, Watson, founded upon my experience, that the lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a more dreadful record of sin than does the smiling and beautiful _____” (75 “Quotations,” at #7).
