A friend sent us this book which has led us on to Kim Lewis' other wonderful books. Beautifully simple stories with complimentary illustrations. This one in particular stands out for me, and left me with a lump in my throat on first reading.
My 2 year old asks for Kim Lewis books each night.

I read this to my children so often when they were little, not so very long ago. Kim Lewis was our favourite picture book author; we still treasure her books. The Shepherd Boy is engaging, moving, gently humorous and poignant all at the same time. Beautifully illustrated. A lovely story about a boy who wants to be just like his dad.

Great story, beautiful images. Our 4th farming story by Kim Lewis and both boys - aged 6 and 2! - love them.
Nice to have farming stories with such realistic images and themes that they can instantly relate to.

Format: Paperback
James wants to be a shepherd just like his daddy but he keeps being told he has to wait until he is old enough. Until then James has to be content practicing with his pet toy sheep. Eventually the 'time' arrives and James has a new puppy and a shepherd's cane so he can now be a real shepherd.

Delightful story - well worth reading :)
