"Multiple threats make this novel a thrilling read straight through to the last page. The language is so descriptive it draws you into the novel. Beth’s husband hovering in the shadows and a creepy villain in the wings just waiting to strike ramp up the tension." --RT Reviews
About the Author
More than ten years ago, Melinda Leigh abandoned her career in banking and never looked back. Since then, she has won numerous writing awards for her paranormal romance and romantic-suspense fiction. When she isn’t writing, Melinda is an avid martial artist: she holds a second-degree black belt in Kenpo karate, studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and teaches women’s self-defense. She lives in a delightfully messy house with her husband, two teenagers, a couple of dogs, and one neurotic cat. The characters were weak, there were certain parts of the story which seemed to go nowhere such as the uncle's 'visions' and there was not enough information regarding the threat our heroine was running away from. If anything could be salvaged then the character of Jack was reasonably well formed but non of the characters were particularly believable, especially the children - I have never come across such a well behaved boy! I really enjoy a good thriller but this was just not a thriller.
I was very disappointed with this and will probably not read the other three.
It did have some mistakes-this line definitely needs a comma for starters,"Jack pulled his hand away and lifted it in front of his chest palm out".....and "like total waste of space" lost a from the sentence. Power-less doesn't need a hyphen, either.
I got to this sentence, "Limping around with a semi from dawn to dark was making him irritable" and by then, 35% into it, it was making me irritable as well, I'm afraid.
If you aren't too particular about intricate plots, depth of character and obvious plot lines you'll probably love it.
