Shattered By You is Haven Dedrick's story. We met her in Overwhelmed By You and she's Tear Asunder's guitarist Ream's twin sister. Her life has been filled with darkness and horror so terrible that it's a wonder she has survived. But within the darkness she has found courage, strength, perseverance, the price of her survival is that she suffers crippling flashbacks which she tries to hide from everyone. She doesn't allow anyone to get close to her, her cold demeanour is her defence against the torrent of emotions within that could explode any moment: guilt, shame and anger at her previous life without Ream. "I was a ticking time bomb, ticking slowly and steadily, waiting for another trigger to set me off." No one can know her secrets, no one can help her, she's best on her own or is she?
Crisis, guitarist and #1 player from Tear Asunder is the only one who can crack her defences. The cocky, flirtatious media whore tells things as they appear. He has no filter, keeps no secrets and never backs down from a challenge. He is a man that many people don't see the real version of: they see band member Crisis not the man behind closed doors. He opens up to Haven and I truly fell for Crisis in this book. He is fiercely protective and loyal to his family, caring and supportive, plus incredibly sexy and charming. He sees Haven as family but soon both their feeling change to something else....Read more ›
Haven has escaped and is now living with the band at the farm but with them going on tour Crisis makes a deal with her she calls Ream everyday and texts him, but things become more when Haven starts looking forward to his meaningless texts and she starts feeling things she never thought she would. Crisis on the other hand is a player but since Haven came into the picture he has never had anyone in his bed.
But Haven has her secrets and after her latest meltdown she feels the only way to move forward is to tell someone and that someone is Crisis and her revelation about Charlie doesn't have him running and she senses that the thing between then can be more. But Crisis has a crazed fan after him who thinks their one night meant forever but he is not keeping it from Haven and tells her everything but now with pictures of Haven being sent just how far is the crazed fan willing to go?
Just what are Haven's secrets?
How will Ream react to his twin sister going out with Crisis?
Love this series and can't wait to read Kite's story
Well I am simply amazed at the writing skill here....this book had everything, it was of course traumatic but also very funny in places ....Crisis was exceptional...he is now my favourite man...he had depth, he was caring and compassionate, he was funny and lighthearted when needed and he simply connected with Haven on such a level that she had no option but to hold on tight that was the Crisis train.
It was a long long road but with love and patience and wit how could they fail?
I loved catching up with the other characters especially Ream and enjoyed seeing his relationship with his sister evolve and grow again.
If you think you aren't going to read this because of its dark content...think again
It was inspiring....it was uplifting...it was about the very worst of people but also the very very best.
Oh and I'm don't think I'll ever look at a cucumber the same again!
