this lcd has many strong points. brilliant colour, very detailed and deep image production (it only feels like an lcd when you get stupidly close) and a vast array of features.
i haven't connected it to an HD source yet but all I will say is that it feels like HD already just from a standard digital cable (NTL/Virgin) connection.
also, i've not managed to watch a proper DVD yet but I just know the image quality will be very very good. one of the lcd's features is to smoothen out the rough juddery issues that some lesser lcd's are faced with. 'tru d' helps to make imagery very smooth (almost too smooth!) but you soon get used to it. the depth of image is also excellent. better than my older tube tv's.
features and menus are really good and simple to use, and the remote is easy to navigate around. conectivity is good with 2 hdmi's (i think) 2 scarts and many more.
sound quality is also impressive with a large centre-style speaker below the monitor which has a surround option which beefs up the more atmospheric programmes and adverts.
the only flaws i've noticed are to do with slight shadowing/ghosting. i think the image can be sharpened up somewhat and i suppose, if being picky, the image could be a touch sharper, but it certainly doesn't ruin the viewing experience.
i managed to purchase the set (in a slightly used condition for £650 and got a 5 year warranty and high quality hdmi cable for £750 inclusive). for this kind of money this TV represents excellent value. can't wait to finally experience HD!!
recommended.
PS 6/4/07 now i'm fully connected to HD all I can say is that the picture quality is truly breathtaking. I am using a £70 QED HDMI but even so, this LCD really delivers!
