HASH(0x90a43ed0) out of 5 stars A Full Series at a SAVE Price... Nice Value 28 July 2014
By Pretsel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Blu-ray
Just an overall product review here to help bolster the product rating… (if you're looking for a series review, lots of other write-up's out there that do a better job talking about the anime itself).

As one review mentioned, the pictures being shown on both Amazon's and Funimation's sites do not accurately represent what is getting shipped. This is a regular SAVE edition product, so you're going to get a double-thick, blu-ray sized, plastic amaray with the standard SAVE wrap on it. There is no art box or o-card / product sleeve on Sn2, unfortunately. (An o-card did come with Sn1 SAVE, at least the version I got did. Would have liked one with Sn2 too for 'shelf display' reasons, so a slight bump there.)

There are 4 BR discs and 4 DVDs in this release (8 discs total). The series running time is 600 minutes, same as the regular, non-SAVE release, with all 24 Sn2 episodes, and the product extras coming from both parts 1 and 2 of the original release are included that run in at 74 minutes on the blu-ray.

This is not a re-compressed version put on fewer discs or other such nonsense, as seen in some cases when they try to cut some production costs, thankfully! The BR edition is, however, a 1080p SD remaster of the series, so just a heads-up. The original content is older after all, so not surprising there… still shows well though in 16x9.

Audio features both an English dub (5.1) and Japanese + sub (2.0) tracks on both the BR and DVD. The extras vary in video and audio definition. The DVD's are region 1, BR's are A.

From a price standpoint, very nice to get the whole season 2 at 600 mins + extras at the SAVE price for what one could only get one-half of the season for on-sale earlier. If you like the anime, and don't have the original release, I recommend go for the buy to get the series + extras, HD audio track, etc., at the SAVE price. If you're not sure, go pick-up some episodes on the streaming sites out there to see if it grabs you or not and buy accordingly.

Thanks for taking the time to read the review. Hope it was helpful to some… cheers.

HASH(0x90a43e64) out of 5 stars Shakugan no Shana is an amazing anime series 28 Aug. 2014

Shakugan no Shana is an amazing anime series! I must say this is a deal breaker! Its the complete season 2 box set for a low price! I mean if you look at the dvd of season 2 part 1 that is $44 and for season 2 part 2 its $33 so with this box set you are saving a whole lot! You get all the same special features and the complete series for only $27 to me that is a really good damn deal! I even got the complete season 1 and of course season 2 continues where season 1 left off... Now all I need to do is wait for season 3 to get this deal. ^.^
HASH(0x90cbb414) out of 5 stars I found myself wanting more when I finished this season 11 Feb. 2015

The voice cast for this season has changed from Season 1. I know there are some who do not like this change, but I have to say that for myself, I am pleased. I am more familiar with Colleen Clinkenbeard, Cherami Leigh, Josh Grelle, Brina Palencia and several of the other typical Funimation gang. This being said, for some reason, it took me a while to get used to Carli Mosier as Wilhelmina. (It also seemed like she wasn’t saying, “Indeed,” as much either which had made Season 1’s so endearing to me.)
Maybe I am imagining things, but it seemed like the graphics were a little better, too.
In this season, we have further character/relationship development and in some cases, romance blooms. Yuji and Shana work on Yuji’s battle skills. We delve into Margery’s past and realize that she has reasons for her constant self-medicating with alcohol. Shana and Yoshida still continue to compete for Yuji’s affection, but in a far more mature way than what we would typically see depicted today. No snarkiness here at all. They have developed a healthy respect for one another and actually lean on each other during trying times and become good friends. They have a healthy understanding that neither will give up to the other for Yuji’s love and they do play fairly. Ike becomes more involved in the storyline with his own love for Yoshida which is very apparent and, Yuji , still oblivious to Yoshida’s intentions for himself, tries to bring Ike and Yoshida together. We also are introduced to new student Konoe who causes some uneasiness initially, but is soon accepted into the fold. We also witness one of the better battle scenes of this season taking place between Sabrac and our three heroines, Shana, Margery and Wilhelmina. There are a few surprises throughout this season and as with Season 1, I have found myself wanting for more when I finished this season. So, it’s onto Season 3, Part 1 & 2!
HASH(0x916862f4) out of 5 stars No Over case sleeve as shown 7 May 2016

It is a great buy the blu ray and dvd art look great and the anime is Great but my only issue is that the product does not arrive as shown, I got it without the over sleeve cover for the case and so now all I see is a giant green neon spine that says save and shakugan no shana season 2 If it had came with a reverable cover art I wouldn't mind and it would match with my season one Save set (which did come with a sleeve) I wouldn't mind as much. Its just visually unpleasant to the eye . besides that it is perfect just upsetting it was received as advertised .

I felt this was not as good as season one. I realize the audience that is targeted here but the slow pace that pulled the season down was all associated with high school stuff (romances, autumn fairs, etc). Once they got back to the subject at hand (monster battles) then the pace, and interest level, picked back up.
