This book is a gem. It is informative and fun to read. The style is easy going - the purpose being to familiarize the subject to persons who have been somewhat intimidated by what they perceived to be far too learned to understand. I was certainly in that category but now find myself quoting Shakespeare in Soliloquy fashion as I go about my daily life. If you have a wish to be tested on what you have read then there is a list of multiple choice questions at the end of the book with answers.

A good synopsis of Shakespeare and his plays and sonnets.

This is probably a good book as an introduction to Shakespeare and those who want to start considering his work seriously.

I was not too taken with the vernacular use of language often used throughout the book. I suspect that this is to make the reader feel at ease approaching what for some may seem daunting.
