Product Description

Set in a remote house on the East Anglian coast in the 1960 s, Hannah (British-born Hollywood actress Jean Simmons - Spartacus) lives a perfectly happy life with her poetry, garden and much younger friend Joe (Jamie Dornan) When Hannah s son, Robert (James Wilby) arrives with his teenage daughter and younger son he becomes shocked with his mothers intimacy with her young friend. Emotions and tensions between the group begin to surface and it might take a tragic incident to bring them together. Writer/director David Rocksavage has produced this unique drama that explores the complexities of family relationships.

although the story was not very strong this was still a enjoyable film.it was mostly about the family and the different ways they could relate to the elderly lady.her son did not really understand her as much as the younger ones.it was well directed and gave you a insight into what it was like to live in the countryside in the sixties.

This is an amazing little British drama, and even in her later years Jean Simmons is still one of the best actresses of her generation.

Fittingly Jean Simmons returned to the UK for this affecting unassuming chamber-piece and I am so glad she appeared in it. This was her last film, and she hadn't done one of significance for years, until now. It contains one of her warmest and most affectionate of performances and reminds us what a treasure she always has been to watch regardless of how good (or not) the movie was, and in latter years made an impression in TV dramas too (e.g. "The Thorn Birds" which also starred Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward and Barbara Stanwyck). "Shadows" should be on BBC television sometime seeing that cinemas failed to have it on general release.

A sensitive, haunting and deeply touching film, masterfully capturing the magic of North Norfolk. A fine epitaph for the great Jean Simmons.

An excellent film a fitting tribute to a superb actress who lost none of her artistry in her later years. In fact played very exacting roles with great sensitivity even at 79!

Enjoyed the movie, just wish Jamie had been on screen a bit more. It was good to see Jean Simmons in one more role.
