About the Author

The author of six novels, D. L. Kung worked in Asia for over twenty years, writing for a number of publications, including The Economist, BusinessWeek, The International Herald Tribune, National Public Radio, The Washington Post and The South China Morning Post. Kung won The Overseas Press Club’s award for Best Human Rights Reporting in 1991 for an exposé on China’s prison labor exports, and Kung’s play based on Chinese writer-in-detention He Depu, "Dear Mr Rogge," won a commendation from the BBC World Service/British Council’s biennial International Playwriting Contest in 2009.
