The two of them start off as enemies of somewhat, Tess isn't enamoured with Nick since she first met him, so when Tess and Nick are put together to babysit their friends son while they are on holiday.
Unaware that she's going to be co-babysitting with the man she considers to be a Jerk, but the more time Tess and Nick spend together the more Tess realises she's miss judged Nick. The two seem to become inseparable, but will it change once their friends return home? Or is this just a fling of circumstances.
I loved this book, it was hot and sexy and did contain one hell of a jerk. Ms Karr wrote a brilliant story while introducing enticing new characters who are getting a book of their own that I can't wait to read.
“There’s something about her. A reason I’ve gone out of my way to get her attention every time we’ve been in the same room.”
Tess Winters is recovering from a broken relationship and trying to get her life back on track by opening a new café. In the meantime, as a favour for her best friend, Fiona, she’s agreed to babysit her son for two weeks. What she doesn’t realise is that her friend’s husband, Ethan, has also asked his best friend to help out, too.
“I’m co-sitting with a man I thought I hated, and turns out, I might kind of like him. And he might just kind of like me too.”
Nick Carrington is a jerk. Ever since Tess met him at Fiona and Ethan’s engagement party, and every meeting since then, he’s come across as an arrogant, womanising jerk. So what if he’s sexy as sin. Nick thinks that Tess is stuck-up and snobby and he loves pushing her buttons. He also can’t ignore the fact that she’s hot as hell.
“Our first kiss is with the both of us completely naked. Completely open to each other. Vulnerable. And both more than ready to be together.”
Two weeks living in the same house, looking after their godson, opens their eyes to the other’s true nature. Everything she thought to be true about Nick is really not quite how it seems. And, Nick finds his defences crumbling around Tess and he finds himself bending his rules for her. But, what happens when their two weeks are over?
“She sparkles and shines and lights my world up. She’s the one I want. The one I need.”
This was a great, humorous, heartwarming story. I loved Tess and Nick together. The banter, the chemistry, the sexy times! Tess is smart-mouthed, sassy, and honest. Nick is a little bit alpha, thoughtful and so hot!! It made my heart melt that he didn’t shy away from his feelings and that he was keen to see where their budding relationship went. I loved that even though Tess had been so burnt by her previous relationship, she was also honest with herself about her feelings and willing to take a chance on Nick. I loved how into each other they were, how intoxicated by each other they became. What they felt was all-consuming. *sighs*
This was a such a fun, at times moving, story. It was eminently readable and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Told from dual perspective, Nick and Tess have a scorching chemistry that only deepens and gets hotter as they get to truly know each other. Nick is a swoon-worthy hero while Tess is a feisty independent woman but when thrown together get ready for the sizzling sparks to fly between these two really likeable characters. The sexual tension between these two is heavy throughout but with that being said, there’s much more to the characters than just the hot sex scenes and sizzling chemistry; both are well developed with real flaws and insecurities leading to them really capturing the reader’s heart. I also particularly loved the relationship both characters had with their friends’ son, Max, who played a pivotal role in showcasing alternative sides to Nick and Tess.
This was such a fun and sexy read that is easily devoured it in a couple of hours. I can’t wait to read more from this author and series!
