1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time and money.... 10 July 2016

Don't bother reading this boring collection of poorly written stories. The worst story in the collection was written by Jaye Shields. Shields's story featured repeated scenes of men punching, kicking, and groping women. One woman was savagely beaten and displayed naked while the men argued over raping her. This is NOT erotica. Later, the hero and heroine have sex all night next to the unconscious, savagely beaten woman and never check on her. Repugnant and lacking in empathy.

I'm not sure why this collection was rated so highly. Increasingly, I pay attention to only verified buyer comments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price, nice collection 20 Nov. 2014

Great price for a great little collection of fun sci-fi romance. Individual stories are shorter than I would've liked, but they were still interesting as they all had a very different take on humans mixing with aliens.

3.0 out of 5 stars Two out of Four 8 Nov. 2014

The first and third books are not worth reading. Tangled Webs barely has a plot, and only advances the story with the tired "should I, shouldn't I, I want to, I don't want to" seesaw. His Human has a good premise but the male-on-female violence, and the fact that the male and female protagonists spend the first night having sex next to the unconscious, possibly dead, body of the other female without tending to, or even checking, her injuries first is just ridiculous and repugnant.

But the second and fourth books are promising and I would be interested in sequels from both. The Spaceship Captain's Wife is too short but sweet, and we are briefly introduced to a world that sounds interesting. Gravitation is the best of the compilation, and paints a surprisingly complete picture of future Earth that is definitely worth revisiting. I would love to read Kory's story next, while continuing to check in with Niah and Bree and the rebellion!

In general, if I pay 99 cents for a book and find even one new promising author from it, I would consider that sufficient bang for my buck. So, in that sense, I would say it's worth getting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 17 Nov. 2014

I am addicted to Sci Fi romances (as well as historical romances) and not only are my expectations considerably lower than your average reader - I am quite alright with pushing the limits of believability because I read as a form of pure escapism. I am not annoyed by spelling mistakes or even a bit of mangled grammar occasionally. It gives me a giggle and I move on

But this book didn't event hit the low bar which was sad. I think the first story set the stage by being very badly written and I felt that I was reading mild erotica written for children which is wrong in so many ways ... that even though the rest of the stories were a tad better ... they were not what I expected and I just couldn't find the desire to go on and had to skip pages after the 2 story (so apologies to the writer of the 4th story - which seemed better written for the first few pages)
