First off, although I just said I have never dealt with sex addiction, I do think it's fantastic that someone has taken the time to make such a concise self-help book. As far as I understand many who suffer with this type of addiction are far too ashamed to go and seek professional help or even talk to family and friends. Therefore, I think that Lincoln should be given credit for providing another way of seeking help - very commendable.
I really enjoyed this e-book, as I have a keen interest in psychology and understanding people in all their complexities, as well as wanting to be as prepared as possible to help the people I come across in my day to day life. It was certainly informative and easy to dive into, and for that I am thankful. `Sex Addiction' is incredibly easy-going and is a short read that is perfect for coffee breaks.
The book makes issues aware that are not often aired, such as the severity of such an addiction; that it is not something to take lightly. Lincoln's e-book also gives insights into why people may struggle with such a thing, and I found it useful to know that this sort of addiction is often tied in with hormonal imbalances or certain personality types. It was also interesting to learn how it is often a symptom of a deeper issue such as bipolar disorder.
It isn't your chunky 1000 page book written by a man with a Doctorate, but for what it is, it is certainly credible. I wholeheartedly recommend this read for those struggling with sex addiction, those close to someone who is or anyone with an interest in how people work.
