Hems and edges
Waistline, belts and tie-backs
Facings and necklines
Sleeves and sleeve finishes
There's also a very useful glossary too.
The only thing you will need to worry about is what you're going to make, and what fabric it will be.
It shows you in very easy terms how to do the basics , sew in a zip , finish a seam and the different types of stitches.
Ideal if youre just getting into sewing or like me just wants to refresh some sewing skills.
I didn't know so purchased.
Text and pictures are smaller and it's not worth getting... I prefer the larger version, easier to read and therefore, follow.
I would suggest for anyone who's interested in learning to sew, & highly recommend this author
But feel a bit cheated by it being a copy...
Sew Step by Step covers all the basic techniques with helpful pictures to guide you on your way. A brilliant book to give as a gift to someone who wants to start sewing or as a helpful "turn to" to have as part of your core collection of sewing books. Alison really knows what she is talking about and is an expert in her field.
I highly recommend this book, whether you're just starting out or would like a handbook to have at your side when tackling slightly more complicated techniques.
I would also recommend keeping an eye out for this book at your local Aldi when they routinely have these books in their SpecialBuys. They have the lovely quality hardback cover books at a fraction of the Amazon prices. For example. I have the Crochet, Knit and Sew versions in this series and all of them were the latest (2014) editions and only 3-99 each. Worth keeping in mind if you have an Aldi local to you!
