Sevylor Tahiti KayakThe versatile inflatable kayak with its broad shape, combines stability and comfort when out on the water. Ultra-stable, the high-performance Tahiti is the ideal choice for a wide range of water adventures.
The blow up kayak is easy to inflate and deflate thanks to the boston valves. The two-way valves allow you to control the air entering and leaving the air bladder. To inflate, unscrew the top cap and insert the pump. An air security flap will prevent air leakage once the pump is removed. To deflate, simply unscrew the entire valve. The Tahiti plus comes with an integrated pressure gauge for accurate inflation.
The kayak is ideal for two adults and can be used for various activities, such as leisure paddling, fishing and tours on a river. Its two comfortable, adjustable seats are removable, meaning the kayak can be switched from a one to a two person model in no time.
Due to the stable construction the inflatable kayak is convincing with a high performance on the water. The three chambers are separated from each other for an extra level of safety. The PVC cover is highly durable and protects the kayak from abrasion and damage. The PVC side chambers as well as the PVC floor chamber with I-beam construction ensure high stability. The kayak can be easily carried around thanks to the two handles (one in the front and the rear).
Sevylor have over 65 years experience in manufacturing a wide range of highly portable and practical inflatable kayaks and canoes for everyone from those wanting to just kick back on the water to the more adventurous looking to explore further up river.

The Tahiti will turn on a sixpence but is quite happy to keep a straight line. I can see how beginners might have to practice that (my brother-in-law had a go and did struggle a bit), but with perseverance you'd soon get the hang of it.
It inflates incredibly quickly with the Sevylor hand pump. I was amazed how easy it was. Some people have said it was a long reach over the sides of the boat with the paddles but, to be honest, I didn't find that for an instant. There's plenty of clearance and you sit perfectly high up. I'm only just touching 5'7" and I was very comfortable.
I'm very enthusiastic about this product - its performance far exceeded my expectations, even using it on the sea in an estuary with a notoriously fast tide. It's equally good if you stick your seat in the middle position and go it alone.
It deflates quickly and rolls up in no time. The trickiest part of the whole procedure was figuring out how to fasten the straps round it. The instructions on this are poor, to say the least, but search YouTube because there are videos that demo it and it all becomes clear quickly. I thought the backpack idea was a bit of a gimmick, but it turned out to be invaluable to get the kayak to and from the car with all of the other paraphernalia and is perfectly comfortable for a ten or 15-minute stint.
We got the Sevylor split paddles which I used joined together. They were light, effective and comfortable to handle.
All-in-all, I'm delighted with this purchase. I was hugely surprised at how good the Tahiti is. As the boys get older we might just buy a second one for whole-family outings!
On inflating the Tahiti, I insert the skeg first making sure it fits between the 2 side chambers (I would recommend getting one. Although it is a fairly large skeg only a few inches enter the water - would have preferred it to go deeper). People have commented on how difficult it is to blow up the spray covers front and back as they are quite small and when you take out the blow up nozzle air escapes very quickly. I found it best to blow these up first turning over the spray cover so that the valve it uppermost. Pull out the valve slightly and insert the pump nozzle so you can put air into the cover. When there is sufficiently air in the spray cover push the valve back down before taking out the pump nozzle as this will help keep the air in (it is fiddly but I’ve had more success this way). The seats can be blown up the same way. I use an electric pump to blow up the bottom and the side chambers quickly, then the hand pump to finish it to the correct pressure. I put the spray skirt in position when the boat is partially inflated, before I use the hand pump. (I take out the whole of the boston valve as the electric pump can put in air quickly without having to overcame resistance from the valve. Then I screw the boston valve in quickly and unscrew the top part which does not let air escape, but allows you to pump up to the desired pressure.
The bottom of the seat needs to be pushed back as far as it will go before you sit in it as it helps keep the back part of the seat upright giving you more support.
I found a bed sheet is useful to put the boat on when you take the boat out of the water to prevent grit sticking to the wet bottom. Deflating is easy and rolling it up (having taken the skeg out) makes putting the straps around it easier. The straps carrying it as a back pack are too wide and they can slip off your shoulder - one way around this it to undo the straps which are held together by velcro and join each strap to the strap on the other side so that the straps cross over. The boat can then be carried as a back pack and will not fall off your shoulder.
Hope these suggestions help..
got tahiti promptly from amazon.
manual little or no help but put it all together - the sevytest gauge seemed to not be working.
i had inflated it using a mains airbed pump but it seemed perhaps a little soft.
called Coleman UK Ltd and they advised me to talk to someone at Meridian Zero. Spoke to Gordon who told me that the sevytest ALWAYS worked and that i should inflate the vessel more.
today i deflated the kayak and then inflated again. still sevytest did not appeat to be working.
EUREKA MOMENT OCCURRED!! - PUT SOME MORE AIR IN BY BLOWING INTO THE VALVES!!!
SEVTEST BLACK BIT RISES INTO THE GREEN AREA!!!!!
Airbed pump just not able to put enough pressure in!
I'll review the kayak when i've used it but thought this might be of help to other first timers like myself.
