Another in the very successful Megapack series, a bumper issue for a notional price. As before, the editors provide a varied selection, with dashes of humour, from the final tale that ends with another dreadful Grendel Briarton pun; Richard Wilson's entertaining romp featuring an oddball university, intelligent kangaroos and levitation; and an answer of sorts to the classic time travel paradox yet one that creats yet another paradox, in Lerner's 'Grandpa?'. I was impressed by the sheer story-telling prowess of Jerry Sohl in his tale 'Time Dissolver', about an amnesiac trying to reconstruct his past - a real page-tuner - and the poetic intensity of Poul Anderson's two contributions, the last an elegy to an Earth being evacuated of its last human beings before being handed over to aliens. The value of the collection is enhanced further by the inclusion of a book-length Silverberg story based on the effect of the Fitzgerald Contraction on family relationships. Highly recommended

Thank you to the editors of the "Seventh". An excellent collection of stories which had my attention from start to finish. I had to force myself to put the book down on occasions. Highly recommended.

Not a bad collection of SciFi stories, some better than others. One story, 'The Time Dissolver', is more a mini-novel and a bit drawn out, tedious and has a weak 'ScFi' content as well as a drawn-out ending. Otherwise a not-too bad a read whilst on holiday.

Very enjoyable stories, well worth the read and the money. Just for the SiFi or thriller lover and there is plenty to keep you occupied with the long list of stories

The subtitle describes this collection as 'modern and classic stories'. Unfortunately in most cases they are neither. A lot of the stories are a decent read, but they very much reflect 1950s and 60s style and themes. As a dip into nostalgia for us oldies, it's OK, but I wouldn't want a young reader to sample this and think this is what SF is about. For the money, it's good value, but SF has come a long way since this stuff.

I would recommend this to anyone.
An excellent mix of stories
My personal favourites being Harry's late night hamburgers, and Starmans Quest. But there are a lot of other great entries as well, all this for a few pence!
Brilliant!

Ok - i'm a dodo, but this is magic stuff from
Anyone can write that, but classic SF - what would happen if.... needs talent, and this too is talent.the days before they invented "fantasy".

I like this collection because it has a mixture of fiction and fantasy. It also has a selection of short and longer stories. Makes for good reading when you have to keep picking it up and down eg travelling to work etc.
