The text itself is a fascinatingly detailed account of the war of 1866. It is almost as if the author was on site. The scenery is described in great detail, the weather, the action of the troops and the considerations of the generals in invasion of the Austrian-Hungarian empire. The author was probably favourable to Preussia, because the Preussian troops are described as the nicest, kindest men on earth, who did nothing wrong. But apart from a slight portion of partiality, it is a great historical document, and tells the story of the decline of the old order in Germany and the rise of the era of Preussia.
