I have reviewed the 5 books in this series in glowing terms and this one is no different. Book Six picks up the themes of Book Five - Akhenaten's Alibi. It builds on the story of the 18th and 19th Dynasty Pharaohs and their connections to the Old Testament (specifically Exodus) and provides a fascinating alternative view of this whole period of history. That story is captivating in itself but throw in the upheaval in modern day Egypt and the complications surrounding the protagonists from their escapades in Book Five and you add further layers of complexity to the tale.
After Book Three, I wondered how Fiona Deal would develop the story, having found Hapshetsut's Hideaway, but she found a rich vein of narrative to keep our heroes questing further and deeper into Egypt's past. There remains more of this vein to mine in further books. (How many, I wonder?)
Overall, Seti's Secret does not disappoint, it keeps up the good standard from the previous five books and still provides surprises at the end. (No spoilers)
I recommend it highly, its a good read and a book that could keep you warm on a winter's night as you bask in bright Egyptian sunshine while the storms howl outside.

I had been looking forward to reading the further adventures of Merry and Adam in uncovering the secrets of Ancient Egypt amid the turmoil of the modern political situation, and I wasn't disappointed. The pace is good, the characters and dialogue believable, and the ending was a real surprise! The subject-matter is also fascinating. I had been unaware of the controversy about the links between Moses and the Pharaohs, and it has prompted me to read further into this matter. If you enjoyed Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody books, you will like this series. I hope Fiona Deal continues to find new adventures for her likeable cast of characters.

Many fiction books written using Ancient Egyptian history as a back drop fail but this series is perfect. Just the right amount of well thought out history, a good bit of research and an exciting plot that has you racing along with the characters to what I thought was a sad ending.

I am sure this will not be last that we will hear from Merry, Adam and the gang.

Having now read all Merry and Adams adventures, I've found every one just as interesting as the one before, and agree with the other reviews that these have the right amount of excitement, romnce and a wide and thoroughly interesting knowledge of Egypt and the Pharaohs.
I await hopefully for the next in the series

I just could not put these books down! The amount of research Fiona puts into them is evident with how they are jam-packed with historical information. I also admire how she has explored possibilities with some unknown areas of Eyptian history to give us a rip-roaring read. I cannot recommend this book enough. Get it!

Just loved the wonderful troubles & adventures that Merry & co get into. Being an Egyptian novice it's great to not only enjoy the stories but learn something at the same time. Bring on number 7 Fiona.
