I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
You cannot help but fall in love with both Holly and Keegan.
Keegan is brought to his knees the minute her sees Holly and knows his life is going to change from that second forward, she calls to every protective bone in his body but just because she is broken, very broken does not mean she is weak or a doormat and whilst there are not huge, explosive full out fireworks as there are in the first book, there are definitely sparks, lots ad lots of sparks.
Holly and Keegan are a little softer in this book, but this doesn't mean there is any less of an emotional journey for them, there are still laughs, hot sex, pain, hope, heartbreak and in my case plenty of tears too!
This series is truly amazing and if you have not yet read it do yourself and favour and start with Set Free: Book 1, followed of course by this one too. Would happily pay for these books everytime but they are a complete steal on kindle unlimited!
Book 2 of a series and another 'Unputdownable' story. Another tale with people I felt I knew and not just from reading the first book in the series. The characters were so different which is testimony to Kelly Collins ability to create real people in her books. The story was so,good and never faltered. There were no 'fill-in paragraphs' which I hate. I read every word. Just loved it

So you get to meet Holly who was a friend to Mickey in jail. She gets released and gets to stay on Mickey's ranch, the girls are so excited! Holly tells Mickey about her boyfriend cheating and wanting to catch him. Plans go very well, she finds out who he is with and that gives her hints as into why she can't get her nursing licences back. She finally tells her new friends what happen and why she went to jail. That her boyfriend told her where to go get marijuana for her mom, she has and never wanted to do this but her mom is dying of cancer and this stuff will help.
But it gets bad, she gets busted for buying and by a school..ouch. jail time. The really sad part is while inside her mom passes away..totally stinks..She couldn't get to go. So when she gets out of jail she has a mission to find out who called it in about her buying drugs, she has been set up! The person who set her up was someone she knew and though of as friend, that stinks. So not only does she want a second chance at life, career, but love and oh does she find it, with a hot hunky sexy ranch stud!!!
This book has it all, happiness, sadness, anger, friendship, love, fights, adventure, romance, unease and heartache. You will feel the emotions and fall in love with all the characters. I love that she gets a second chance at love and her career and she finds the true person who set her up and took her life away. I like that she finally opens up and trust people to help her, it's beautiful to watch her get her confidence back!! It's very well written story, looking forward to more from this series and author.
“His excuse was like Kool-Aid poured into a wine bottle. The color pleasing but the taste failed."
"Lord if she thought three beers could pickle her liver then I was well on my way to being completely preserved."
"Looking between the two men, I watched to see if fists would fly. No fists, just look that could curl toenails. The tension was as thick as motor oil."
"I sounded as bitchy as a retail worker on Black Friday."
"A kiss said a lot about a person. A quick peck said, 'Hi, you're okay.' A French kiss showed intense interest. When your lips were attracted to each other like a magnet to metal, was when you knew you shared more than raw passion or simple attraction."
"I carried a tune like a blind man with a spear. I stabbed at it but rarely hit my mark."
I am thoroughly enjoying Kelly Collin's Second Chance series. Book two, Set Aside, provides an active, intriguing, and amusing yet heart squeezing love story between a female ex-con and a cowboy who likes to watch Hallmark movies and the Food Channel. Smirk. Ms. Collin's brings clever humor, angst, steamy sensuality, and a sweet love story to this entertaining plot. I am already looking forward to book three, Set In Stone.
The basic story of a cowboy falling head over heals for a newly released prisoner, and the emotional roller coaster the two main characters go through. It's an interesting read.
I have to add that I received a copy of this book, from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
Now she is free & her best friend Mickey is going to help her get back on her feet.
She get way more than she bargained for when she gets to the M&M Ranch!!
There she meets Keagan. He is out to prove to himself & his family that he can make it in his chosen field & he does not need the complication of a woman. Unfortunately for him, Holly gets under his skin from day 1!!
I love the balance in their relationship. Holly refuses to be a burden & insists on pulling her own weight & cleaning up her own mess. Keagan is the ultimate alpha & once he claims Holly as his he makes it his mission to look out for her.
The banter between them is intense at times but light hearted & funny at others. You are never left wondering what either of them are thinking or feeling because they are both quite good at communicating where they are at.
I love that once they both decide they are in, they are all in and not just them but their whole family are all in!!
What I absolutely love about a Kelly Collins book is that once you start reading it, you quickly forget the rest of the world exists. You get so wrapped up in what you are reading that by the time you get to the end, hours have gone by & you almost don't want to re-join the real world!!
Kelly Collins brings her characters full circle from start to finish. Holly & Keagan grow so much through this story that by the time you get to the end you can clearly see the difference in them from where they started at the beginning of their story.
I absolutely loved this book & recommend it to everyone!!
