The product gives you many templates to create your own cards, scrapbook pages, stationary among other items such as gift bags and place cards. However, the majority of designs have to be paid for by following a link to their online shop. This is one of the major downsides to this product and if they addressed this I would be more likely to encourage others to buy.
One of the plus sides is it's very easy to upload your photos and create various designs with a `Microsoft Paint' tool set up while perhaps get around paying for backgrounds by uploading your own images.
If you are holding a large event or getting married I think it would be a good investment. You can create all your stationary very easily and quickly which will ultimately save you a lot of time and money.
One of my main concerns for creative types like me, is that it takes the fun out of being creative. I missed the tactile feeling of playing around with paper and embellishments. Something about it being on screen just didn't have the same fun factor for me and certainly made me feel less creative.
Most of the free templates are very specific in content, and relate to holidays, for example there is an Easter template and a Mother's Day template. As the product is American, a lot of the free templates, such as Independence Day, aren't really relevant to UK consumers.
This product is like a cross between Microsoft Publisher and Paint.NET. Having used both extensively in the past, I managed to pick up the basics of this pretty quickly, and once I'd downloaded a free template pack, I created a basic design for a Save the Date card. Each design pack has a selection of backgrounds, materials, embellishments, frames etc, you click the ones you want, then drag and drop them onto your blank template to create the design.
The other negative is, whilst using this for about an hour, the software crashed four times and lost my work, so I had to begin again.
This might be okay if you're happy to purchase the template packs online, and you don't want to create anything too complex. This review is based on me using the software twice for an hour or so each time, so it may improve as I learn how to use it, but I'm relieved I got this as part of Amazon Vine, there's no way I would have paid for it.
The software uses a variety of digi-packs containing all sorts of themed background papers, letter fonts, frames and toppers to build up digital scrapbook pages as well as all sorts of other items. If you join the Daisytrail website you can download free digi-packs and there are plenty more available to buy. If you buy other pieces of software from the series they all link together on the computer.
This is a very comprehensive piece of software, giving the user full control over every aspect of their designs. But, being a paper crafter and only having used a very basic piece of card-making software before, I found the many tools confusing and incomprehensible. I watched some tutorial videos over the internet but found that most of them related to a different piece of software. The electronic help guide was so in depth I didn't really know where to start and in honesty I initially just gave up.
I have had some further plays though and I do hope that one day I will figure out how to get the most of this software; but on the whole I'm inclined to stick to my paper crafting.
It's hard to make a product like this perfect in terms of intuitive flow and working, because there is a trade-off; when you make things that are preplanned easy to do you also make it hard to do things which are not preplanned, i.e. if you want to do something really different or in another way. But, hey, it's a fun tool not a professional system
