This is a truly excellent book for all learners of Serbian. I am learning Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian and I must say that I have waited a long time for a book like this to become available to help me learn the vocabulary (Until now there has been no vocabulary books like this!) The book divides the vocabulary into themes so that you can prioritize the vocabulary you wish to learn most or learn in small manageable steps.
This book comes in different sizes with either 3000 words, 6000 words or 9000 words. For beginners, I would highly recommend the 3000 words book since this will give you all the most important words to get you started. The 9000 words book is perfect for advanced learners. This is really an amazing and very complete vocabulary book for learning Serbian and I am so happy it has been released!

I am an English man learning Serbian/Croatian. My girlfriend, who is Serbian, reviewed this book and noticed that a large number of the nouns presented in this book are wrong and some do not even exist in the language. I also have a number of Macedonian, Croatian and Bosnian friends who have also confirmed this. If you are learning the language DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! Save your money for something that has been professionally published.

By Dijana - Published on Amazon.com

Just got the vocabulary that I ordered as a gift for my boyfriend who is an English speaker. I opened it to see how it looks like and literary on the first page I opened I noticed not one but four mistakes in translation. Kept flicking through and found plenty more. Considering that the main and only purpose of a vocabulary is to give you a proper translation from one language into another I have to say I am very disappointed by this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Knowing yes, Understanding no 4 Oct. 2013
By Zoran Manovic - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Instead of giving context to words that have different meanings when used differently, this book boils down to just a word-by-word translation. Moreover, if focuses on individual words and ignores fixed sayings that do not make sense to foreigners at all even if they are familiar with the individual words.

Have based my purchase on the description "Knowing and understanding around 9000 Serbian words", this is not what I was hoping for (and used to with theme based vocabulary books for other foreign languages).
2.0 out of 5 stars No accent marks / pronunciation 3 Jan. 2015
By cd-555 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I want to warn you that the accent marks on the words are missing, so you won't know which syllable to stress. The books for the other languages have the English word in column 1, the foreign word in column 2 and the pronunciation in column 3, but here they put the Cyrillic in the second and the Latin version of the words in the third column and so there is no pronunciation column.
