Neon's Sensual Goddess TWO-DVD SET is a belly dance instruction program designed for beginners. Four hours of non-stop movement with music. The emphasis is on meaningful, evocative and sensual movement you can learn from the start. What makes your movement sensual, and what makes it sexy? You will see and try dozens of moves and learn to modulate the flavors of your dance, such as sensuality, playfulness, classiness, as well as its emotional range and depth.
For absolute beginners the program includes detailed breakdown of classic belly dance moves. You will practice each move individually, and learn to layer hipwork on footwork, and add upper body moves and arm trajectories, linking them with graceful transitions. All of this is movement with music, from the very first step.
In addition, you will learn combinations based on poses, gestures and arm patterns - these elements are typically used to add expressivity to a belly dance performance - this is the dance body language that will breathe meaning and emotional appeal into your dance. But these elements can also be used on their own, to create whole evocative compositions, while all we do is steps and gestures - very valuable when you are a beginner still working on your basic belly dance moves.
These are the steps and gestures that will allow you to express your inspiration and perform, even if you have no dance training.
Arm trajectories, delicate movements of your hands, head tilts and turns, articulations of your posture - these are the elements that will make your dancing sensual and beautiful -- and you can learn them without knowing any belly dance steps and use them in any form of dance.

I will only be reviewing CD1 because that is the one I will be using for a while before moving to CD2.
------- What the CD contains --------
Now, CD1 is divided into 2 parts (total duration 2:44 hours), each part contains 8 section (which you can navigate to using the DVD's menu! so you won't need to watch the whole thing, you can choose which of the 16 sections you want to play.)...
In part 1, she demonstrates the moves as she does it continuously and repeatedly... The speed changes as the repeats the move to allow you to see the move correctly and how it appears when done with a rhythms... The voice is recorded separately...
In part 2, she does two things, an instructed practice of the moves with 2 other dancers, and then shows you a choreography with music, once with and once without instructions for those moves she just taught you!
So it looks like this:
"1 instruction > 1 Combination & Choreography"!
"2 instruction > 2 Combination & Choreography"!... and so for the other 8 sections...
----- Section1 (Instructions), she does arm moves! ABSOLUTELY graceful and the most beautiful arms and arm-moves I have ever seen! I believe most beginners don't know what to do with their arms (like myself!!), this CD shows you EXACTLY when to move and where to move your arms and how to move them in such a sexy appearing way!!... not only does she show you the arms move while standing! She does also with foot steps backward and forward to increase complexity and to show you how it looks when actually practices (that is during the instruction section). You will keep learning new arm moves in other sections too...
Section 1 (Practice & Choreography), During the actual choreography she does the moves in a little faster speed... and it is very short part and they repeat it twice... (but the practice part is not repeated and is a little longer).
The only one con about this section is that she does **some** moves a little too fast! So you will need to pause little by little to follow the arm move... but you will realise once you pick up the pattern that the speed will allow you to practice things faster... but if you are total beginner at hand moves you might not like that aspect... but being a total beginner myself with arm moves, I didn't find it too bad!
This section is about 15 minutes long... (you won't feel the time!! as she does quite a few moves there)
----- Section2, She does weight shifts, and combines them with *new* beautiful arm moves. For the weight shifts she does it with steps, and then she moves on to add the arm moves along with the steps. She gives you enough time to practice, around 10 minutes to that section... add about 5 minutes of the practice (instructed) and choreography...
----- Section3, She does hip lifts with/without kicks, hip-twists, while reminding you of weight shifts (as seen in section 2), and demonstrates the hip lifts and twists with foot steps and *new* arm moves!! First she does them one by one, and then combined in a very sensual way... and she repeats them many times to give you a chance to practice... Please note that *ALL* her moves are initially broken down into little steps before she does the full move...
You can clearly see how she builds on from what she taught you previously, so you will need to master the moves before moving on to different sections...
----- Section4, She does hip-circles (like with other moves, she breaks them down into first corner moves and then combines them to make the full circle), and she does 3-step foot move combined with hip-circles and arm moves... and one-hip circle combined with foot steps and arm moves...
In this section she also recalls hip drops and kicks to add them to this section... just imagine how beautiful the moves eventually work out with all the previously taught moves combined! Amazing.
----- Section5, She recalls snake arms in details, she adds foot steps and full body waves side to side, then she demonstrates cross foot move (don't know the name but its very pretty move)... and she also adds hip-circles to the foot moves... shoulder shimmies and chest lifts... obviously arms are playing throughout...
----- Section6, hip shimmies... shoulder shimmies with back bends (very feminine move!), and she also does whole body drops... hip pushes, and 3/4 shimmy... all combined with many different variations... arms are playing throughout...
----- Section7... she does new foot steps... and the camel walk... whole body twists (full turns)... figure 8 hip move... here she also combines lots of different moves she already covered, but she does alternations and variations to all moves, she does new foot step...
----- Section8, reverse figure 8, regular and reverse undulations... chest circles... lots of other moves previously explored and arm moves...
------- The dancers and Environment --------
You can find some free lessons on Youtube to get a better feeling of the environment where they've recorded, and where the cameras are positioned, and how things are compiled together in terms of voice and so on. Search for her name "Neon" and add other terms like "belly dancing" ..
You don't need big space to practice her moves most often (you do for some sections like section 3)! Most of her moves are local with one step forward and one backward... so it is perfect for people with limited space.
The dancer is simply magical, very very graceful moves, as if someone is blowing into her! Amazing, just unique! I didn't really find the other dancers that graceful! No where near as good, I just ignored their presence, typical dancers! Her posture, her smile, her body, her fingers are very fluent, and the way she slides her head with the moves = all intuitive and admirable...
------- Who should order this CD --------
This IS for beginners, but not for VERY beginners! She does cover moves slowly and breaks them down in a very clear way, but I would probably recommend Amira's 101 belly dance CD for TOTAL beginners. That CD (Amiras) is purely about the moves one by one, nothing else. But this CD is for beginners that know the moves roughly but that's it! Don't know what to do with their arms or how to combine moves gracefully, how to make the move look sexy... It is superb for learning to combine moves... a must have CD!
Assuming you have done what she's been instructing, you SHOULD NOT be a beginner by the end of this! She moves you gracefully into intermediate level! Because you already know the moves, you know how to combine them, and you know how to keep things graceful and sexy!
They are not complicated moves at all! And the way she does them is very fluent... Example, she won't make you do shoulder shimmies while doing hip shimmies at the same time, because this needs brain training and is difficult for beginners, but she will teach you to alternate the two one after the other... basic!
Hope that helps! (I didn't like previous reviews from Amazon.com, I didn't feel I knew what the CD contained, so this is a break down so you know what to expect)
Maybe in the future I will review CD 2.

EDIT: I believe the ones saying that it was too fast and that she did not explain accidentally put the second disc in. That's the disc you use after you've learned the choreography in the first disc. The first disc is the one with the main directions and slow movements.
