This camera is excellent.
It's been ages since I've written an Amazon review, but I'll make an exception for the SpotCam. I'm a fan of the Nest products, having the thermostat and a couple of alarms, and was considering buying the camera to keep an eye on my home when I'm travelling. However after a lot of reading around it became clear that there is no way to store the video generated unless buying an (expensive) ongoing subscription. The SpotCam seems to have almost the same functionality, was very easy to install using the app, and most importantly offers 'lifetime' free storage of the previous 24 hours of video. The only difference is the Nest has a somewhat wider field of view.
This video can then be accessed through a browser or the app, with alerts highlighted; alerts can be sent to the phone or email; and normal speed / timelapse videos can be generated.
So - the SpotCam is cheaper to buy than the Nest equivalent, has good quality video including nightvision, and has no cost for storing 24 hours of video (although longer term subscriptions are available). Recommended.
