Good informative book with information on research into SPD.Not difficult to understand. Has chapters on ADHD and ASD with SPD which is useful.
it is an AMERICAN book howecer and is written with an illustrative case story for each subtype of SPD which was a bit sentimental and also very simplistict.
It had NO info about children being mixed subtypes like my son and no information on seekers who benefit from intense input as apparently these are "very rare"- no use if thats what you have!
Lots of self promotion about the "star" centres that she runs across USA and the online courses they do -this may be helpful for some esp American readers.
Again had information on what assessments American children are entitled too and how to access them and tips on "choosing a therapist" which does not not happen on the nhs - its pot luck unless you go privately.
Still a useful book for parents looking to understand SPD.

Exceptional book that has helped me IMMENSELY with my daughter. It was recommended by her occupational therapist after she was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and I also highly recommend it. No 2 kids are identical and this book helps cover all the bases with the variances in child behavior with one struggling with this disorder. Very well written, and helped me when I felt like I was all alone trying to figure this thing out. I highly recommend this!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading the section on sensory seeking children was like reading a story of his life 17 Aug. 2015

This book was a life changer for me and my son! Reading the section on sensory seeking children was like reading a story of his life. Not only was it great to hear that we were not alone, it also gave me the push to seek him help through OT which has been so beneficial. I've asked several family and friends to read that section to better understand him. It's an easy read and brings so much understanding.

I recommend this book for all parents. You may not have a child who exhibits the sensory processing disorder but it is well worth reading just for good information. Parents can always use help in raising their "Sensational Kids". After all parenting is the hardest job on earth!
