I have the base dial turned up to the max which produces so much ear drum shattering bass it complements my musical taste superbly. They sound good when used with my phone but the weak power an lossy mp3 Spotify audio doesnt make them shine tbh.
But when used with a dac/amp (even the cheap FiiO e10k these things are the best I've ever heard. Especially when you use higher quality audio formats such as .FLAC or .WAV which gives the volume and detail another significant boost. Can't even go above 20% volume on windows as it's too much, usually use 10% volume and treat myself when a banger comes on to 15% XD
All in all, sound quality using:
spotify on mobile (OnePlus 3) - 7/10
Spotify on pc with dac/amp - 8.5/10
flac files with dac/amp - 10/10
if you want the best for under £500 to me these are the ones
Firstly they are very similar to the IE80. The only differences of note is they are slightly smaller, have a thicker cable without been at all stiff and have a straight 3.5mm jack rather than a right angled one, all of which I prefer. They do have a slightly cheaper look and feel but this doesn't make any difference to me. They fit more comfortable in my ears and come with an array of tips, but the original large silicone ones from my IE80's are perfect for me so I just use those.
Now as far as sound they are stunning but not that much different to the original IE80's. The bass is tighter but they still have the same U-shaped sound signature with strong treble and bass and slightly recessed mids. I have owned neutral IEM's and they really do nothing for so again this comes down to personal choice. The biggest difference in sound for me is the soundstage. These things are wide. Probably the biggest soundstage I have heard on an IEM and with the right music its just a joy to listen to. I don't really view them as that much of an upgrade because 90% of what I get from these I get from the original IE80's. You can only take an IEM so far as it has such a small environment to do its thing, but I listen to so much music for me it was worth the investment. As a stand alone product they are sensational but if you are considering buying them to upgrade from your IE80's I wouldn't expect to hear much in the way of difference. There are a few things of note here though.....
1) Tips make a HUGE difference. The tip has to completely seal your ear canal for the IEM to really be able to do its thing. They will sound awful if you do not get the best fitting tips for your ears. The best for me is the large round silicone tips. The foam feel uncomfortable and the medium tips are too small and sound starts to bleed out. I would spend easily an hour or so playing around with them.
2) Have a good source. I use at least 320kb MP3 files with either Audirvana on my Mac or Onkyo on my phone. Both programs are optimised for better music playback and can play Flac or high res files.
3) Consider buying a USB DAC. Once you go DAC you never go back. These things are designed to make music sound a lot better and they really do. I use one in my main system and on the go with my phone. Initially an Audioquest Dragonfly but more recently a Cyrus Soundkey, both under £100.
4) The type of music you listen to makes a huge difference. Older recordings and especially music like rock/metal can sound very flat and muddy. This is not the IEM's but simply the original recordings. If you want to hear what these IEM's can actually do when fed the right tracks listen to Yosi Horikawa "Bubbles" or "Letter", Lindsey Stirling "Elements" or "Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy" or pretty much anything from Max Cooper or James Blake.

The short review: They're lovely. They sound lovely. They look lovely.
I'm not an earphone expert or audiophile, although I do like a nice set of headphones. I use my headphones a lot. On a commute, in the house and over the day. So a few hours each day.
I'd tried the ie80 pair of headphones and thought they sounded great, however these have not only replaced the excellent IE 80 earphones, they've had a little facelift for 2017 and they have so far beaten them in the important category of audio performance. A superb sound has not just got a little better. I like the smaller, more sculpted design versus the older version
Nice and premium, comes with a carrying case (which I'll never use) and an unbelievable number of your tips.
In the little zip case is foam for the headphones and a wraparound thing which I may use.
They do look very nice and resilient. These are one of Sennheiser's top in ear headphones so you know they're going to look nice. The finish is amazing and they have a tiny screw on the earpiece which is where you can raise or lower the bass. (It also comes with the tool to do this. I didn't adjust them as I though the bass was just right.
They feel extremely durable and I suppose I'd describe the design as 'industrial.'
I'm not sure what they're called, the little rubbery tips that clip on. Well, I'll call them tips. The headphones come with loads. I've not lost any yet though.
They include: Silicone, Lamella and Comply tips. 9 pairs altogether.
Not really. Just normal headphones. Great headphones though. You could use them day to day but if you need to isolate external noise (such as on a plane) they'd be OK but they're not made to be noise isolating.
You buy headphone to give a nice sound. What did I think of the sound?
Superb! Bass is well balanced and they are ideal for all types of music. I tried them with dance, classic, rock and acoustic. They were simply mind-blowing.
The iE80s's have excellent separation and clarity. They almost scrape at the detail, fetching little bits of song you'd never normally hear. At this pricepoint you expect a lot, and you actually get a lot for your 'buck'.
For me they're perfect for mids/vocals lovers. They're not muddy or woolly and have an amzing sound.
Detaches really easily, but not too easily.
It doesn't seem to tangle and they have a little plastic adapter that helps you route them around your ear. I simply place them in my ear without the adapter.
According to the listing the cable also includes the clicker for an iphone: one click-pause, two clicks-next track and three clicks-skip back.
(Mine didn't and I've contacted Sennheiser- so I'll update the review if I hear back)
They feel really comfortable. Light, but not too light. And they stay in place even when moving. For example I visited the gym and jogged on the treadmill. Stayed. In. Place.
They look heavier than in real life. They're comfortable, even to sleep with.
I listened to the following songs:
Jess Delgado - Nobody. Beautiful and rich. You can almost hear the press of the piano. The double bass is perfectly balanced with her voice. WOW! Nobody
Lady in Spain - The accordian feels like it's in the room. They really show off the range of her voice.
Poppiholla - They are superb for dance music too. Not too overpowering.
Blue Skies (Radio Edit) The rendition of the choir, piano, and the gentle tap of the drum and all clear and balanced.
The Sinking Feeling There's a bit in the song where Matt sings, I think I better get back in bed. It sounded like he was behind me.
To Know Him Is To Love Him (Remastered) The soundstage is perfect with these.
We Will i don't think I've ever noticed the harp before. They are beautiful to listen with.
Watching The Wheels Again, I'd never noticed the bass before, before listening with these.
Feel It Still This was strange to listen to. The song builds and builds and when the bit where it goes, ooooeehh I'm a rebel with the... and the music has a psychedelic whaa whaa... It almost made me dizzy. A good type of dizzy though.
Je m'en vais They brought me to tears.. well almost.
exceptionally detailed sound
adjustable bass delivery works very well
They're not cheap.
The sound is breathtaking and they look and feel good.
They are the best inear headphones I've used.
Yes. If you use your headphone a lot these are currently my favourites.
At the time of review the picture shows a remote on the cable and I had hoped that I may have received a wrong cable.
I contacted the company who did reply quickly, "Thank you for your email. These earphones are universal with the cable supplied but the one button smart remote cable is not supplied with the earphones so you will have to purchase this separately."
So.... I still like the headphones BUT they shouldn't be advertised as ios and they shouldn't have the misleading photo.
