- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 January 2012I've purchased two Sony MDRE829V headphones and both broke on me in months. I decided to invest a little more and buy some Sennheisers.
Edited review:
Pros:
- The left bud has a raised bump on it to quickly identify the right ear and the leather pouch that comes with it is real nice.
- Sound is great - I especially loved how podcasts sounded crystal clear.
- Fantastic fit/Low profile - something which is great for both people with small ears and people who sleep with them on. You do not want a headphone with a large profile.
Cons:
- Since I wrote this review I have discovered the Chinese Yuin PK2 which can only be purchased on the worlds most popular auction site.
- The volume remote is huge for what it does. If your a headphone sleeper, rolling over on the remote is sore.
- The remote is also s***ty. Unless it is at full volume it degrades the quality of the music, and the remote cannot be used to completely mute. It feels like a "dampen sound" remote
- They broke in almost exactly a year, my replacements broke in the same place (one earphone channel stops working (very frustrating) ). I then discovered Yuin PK2....
NOTE: I take very good care of my headphones but I also sleep with them so there may be more wear and tear than for a normal person.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 August 2012I'm so glad I've bought these. I really cannot fault them. First off, the sound quality is fantastic. I own a much more expensive pair of over-ear headphones and I prefer these. The sound is crisp and clear, yet the bass is fantastic. This means that dubstep for example, sounds great through these, but so do softer genres. I find details in my songs that I don't usually hear, from Slipknot to Paolo Nutini.
As for build quality, I've had these for a while now, and they've been squeezed into my motorbike helmet, wrapped round my iPod, stuffed in my pocket, been tangled, even bumped the floor a few times, and there's still not a thing wrong with them. The built-in volume control on the wire is also useful, just watch that you don't accidentally change it and not realise it, as it can cause the sound balance to go a bit off until you put it back to full volume again.
Overall, these are hands down the best earphones I've ever had, and for unbelieveable value. Sennheiser continue to impress me.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 October 2012I bought these to go with my Samsung Galaxy S2, I was using the stock headphones and wanted a bit of an upgrade. Have to say i am really disapointed, the sound quality is good (not hugely better than the stock samsung ones i must admit), my issue with these is that they are just so uncomfortable. They come with foam pads / clip on pieces etc.. but no combination comes any where near close to normal. I have never had this problem with any earphones in the past and a couple other people at work tried these to and agreed.
I just wish they fitted better because they would have had 5 stars for the price/quality, but if i cant use them they are pointless. going on ebay for a fiver !
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 January 2012with my primary use for them when in the gym.
I needed a pair of reasonably priced headphones that I expect to eventually break due to what they are subjected to and with an inline volume control and these seemed to meet those requirements over replacing my old Sony's.
As the picture shows, I did have reservations over the size of the volume control and this has been proven to be correct, being more the size of a mobile phone mic than the smaller Sony one that I was used to.
The cord is Y shaped and works pretty much solely to the front, not working at all well if put around the back of the neck as the right plug pulls out. The control adds to this unless the supplied clip is used, which again the Sony did not need.
There is a lot in the package apart from the phones - case (no use to me), 2 types of plastic ear fit adaptors and the ubiquitous sponge covers. I have only needed the sponge covers as once the clip is used these make them more than snug enough.
The volume control is the most important feature to me as I need to adjust the volume a lot without doing it on my Ipod strapped to my arm, being as the recording level of a lot of my tracks are very varied. And this is where it loses the star.
Apart from its oversize there is no way to feel which side the volume control is on without looking at it in most instances. There is no raised bit as found on keyboards, etc. and both sides feel the same. When exercising this is an annoyance as you usually only have one hand free at any time, if that.
It is also a slider rather than a wheel and is incredibly sensitive. To the point where moving it very slightly can lead to an imbalance in the headphones similar to a fault where one is louder than the other and needs a slight adjustment to get it balanced again. It may be possible it is a fault, this is what happened when my other pair were going.
Sound is good for the price versus expected life span through use and I can't fault them for this.
Overall a nice pair of headphones let down for me by the weighty, over sensitive volume control that I choose a set of phones for. If that doesn't bother you then I wouldn't hesitate to buy them and give it 5 stars, but personally I will be getting another pair of Sony's when these need replacing as they deliver everything I want for only a couple of pounds more.

grimmyReviewed in Italy on 18 June 20145.0 out of 5 stars cuffia ottima
PrassannaReviewed in India on 20 May 20145.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant sound and clarity
First of all, build quality of the bud, its sturdy, the cables could have been thicker, but unless you are physically pulling it, it wont snap :D. Regarding the sound, the clarity is very good. The mids and highs really shine in this bud. after 20hrs of burn in, the bass started to shine. Possibly with more hrs of burn in, it might get better. But you cant expect too much on the bass considering the price, its not a Grado, so bass enthusiasts may not buy this. Probably they can buy a bass guitar n pluck the strings :D. Music is not only about bass. In fact you can hear the bass notes being played.
You can also wear it over the ear, I found the sounds to be more pleasing. You can try this way n choose for yourself.
Overall a fantastic product.

Radish2Reviewed in Germany on 17 October 20135.0 out of 5 stars Die Sennheiser MX 580 könnten klanglich mindestens das doppelte kosten
Miranda - U are alone
Ott - Rogue Bagel
Shpongle - Vapour Rumours
Astral Projection - Aqualine Spirit
Digital Sun - Digidub

B. Jean-lucReviewed in France on 12 July 20135.0 out of 5 stars Excellent rapport qualité/prix

Luis Carlos Vicente AlbénizReviewed in Spain on 1 January 20135.0 out of 5 stars Excelente relación calidad - precio.
