They came packaged brilliantly. The Sennheiser brand is quite well known for being producers of high quality kit and they certainly don't disappoint with these! The impedance is mid range so you get an excellent field and depth of sound for a rather good price. They're comfortable for myself as an adult, and my smaller daughter found them to fit nice and snug as well. The noise isolation is brilliant, she can often have music or YouTube videos playing at a decent volume and no one else can hear it so perfect for those that like to blast it when they're on the train or the bus. They seem sturdy (They're still plugging along perfectly after about 6 months...trust me when I say thats incredible for my daughter...) and very well made.
I'd highly recommend for someone who is looking for a decent set of headphones without wanting the ridiculous Beats sort of price.
They are Comfy, Great Value for Money, Excellent Sound Quality and Very Strong!
(Just be warned the long wire may get caught and tugged sharply on your neck.)
I'm very pleased with them (i've waited a few months before writing a review so I could properly settle into them and the experience than rush out an uninformed one as some people do on the day of receiving the items).
The sound quality exceeds the tv nicely, and as you'd perhaps expect, adds substantially to the gaming experience - as just one example - to track the sources of sounds in the game whether friend, foe, or 'other' very precisely! I'm not the type to pretentiously describe the crispness of the sound to the nth degree, but realistically, for most people this would seem perfectly fine - your own hearing is probably more of a limiting factor.
The cable is the right length to lounge away from the tv, without tripping or tugging the plug out. I would be inclined to agree with others that the cable diameter would be better, say PS controller cable thick, compared to Ipod earphones thin, as you may have the paranoia of this being a vulnerable weak point if you get overexcited or something and put some strain on the lead, depending on what sort of antics you're getting upto I guess?
The padding is good, the over the ears design comfortable for hours of use at a time if needed as these are pretty light too.
You can pay more and probably get a little more (so probably not at a favourable price / benefit ratio), but I personally don't see the need to. You can pay less and get a little less, but I'd be wary of shorter cables, comfort and the lower sound quality compromise risks. These seem the Goldilocks of headphones for me - ah, just right.
The drivers are sublime, not too much treble, not too much bass. Nearly a flat response across the spectrum. There is a good amount of everything too, so when there's bass, you'll know about it, but not when there's not, which is nice.
Closed-Back design, so you don't wake your housemates/significant other late at night. Course if you tend to be on VOIP at these times, that can keep them up too!
Light and comfortable. I was surprised by how light these were, seriously.
The become uncomfortable after long periods of use. This I can put down to my oddly shaped ears though. They tend to stick out more than most people's so my ear-tips tend to hit the drivers. If you've small and/or flat ears [that just sounds downright weird], then you shouldn't have an issue.
The microphone is well... s***. I mean Google Now can recognise my voice fine, but I have a rather deep voice and the mic tends to have more of a bassy response. There's also a significant echo, even when I turn all the Echo cancellation I can on through my PC and Teamspeak.
When the headset is around your neck, the headband extensions tend to dig into your neck. it's not a huge issue, but it is really irritating.
PS. Unless your laptop/PC has the 4-pin port, you'll need an adapter, to use the microphone on it, similar to this one > http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-3-5mm-Headset-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B0058DOWH6/ref=pd_cp_computers_0
Neutral: Ridiculous length cable. Handy if you want them for indoors activities, awkward for walking around with outside.
Cons: Very little muffling of outside noise. One side speaker is starting to drop volume erratically after just a few months ownership - seemingly something to do with the cable. If it goes completely I will try the warranty and update my review with how that goes.
