The problem was that they developed a loose / broken wire at the headphone jack within 4 months of purchase. I take good care of them, never squash them into a bag or anything, and in use they just sit in my coat or back trouser pocket. I contacted Amazon and they replaced them for free. But it's disappointing considering the original pair didn't have an issue for years. Perhaps I was unlucky, but that's my experience.
Update: I've now spent some time listening to music with these. Must say I find them tinny, no depth or warmth, the sound is always 'outside'. These are convenient for travel but sound quality isn't great.
They are just a lot of fun to listen to and make all genres sound good. They are fast and accurate sounding headphones. Trust me, for £45 you are getting a real bargain. They are very light but I'm not scared they'll break on me. these can give proper sized headphones a run or the money.
These are marvellous value for money, the first headphones I've had that, from an iPhone or similar, help you forget the limitations of listening to classical music on-the-go. They leak sound a little, but no worse than many in-ear phones, to judge from travelling on trains and buses. They let sound in. But that's because they are open-ear, so you'll decide whether the improved quality is worth the leakage.
I've tried them out on other than classical music - just fine for jazz, eg Miles, "So What?" Plenty of pull on Paul Chambers' bass, and picks up the little nick on the cymbal as Jimmy Cobb comes in. Lovely balance to the sound of the whole band.
On Tricky's "False Idols" the huge bass is not quite so huge as through my £15 closed-ear Sennheiser HD201 'phones - but that's OK with me!
Well, for about £46 you can have both sets for different uses (nice long cable on the HD 201s for listening to music whilst others watch the football!) - extraordinary value for money. No, I don't work for Sennheiser.
