Nonetheless a very intersting and usefull book packed with good info that is as relevant today as it was 40yrs ago.
I am sure that there are more technical books on this subject around today but as good ole Bruce Lee used to say, absorb what is useful.
I'm a Bruce Tegner fan anyway as i bought one of his books on Ju Jitsu about 35yrs ago.
If you need to know about this subject and are studying martial arts, i would suggest you buy it as there will be info you can use.
Even its just for your collection buy it.
If you are looking for pressure point striking techniques then this will only be a very basic guide.
However from a beginners perspective, this book gives a clear instruction in simple self defence strikes without all the technical chinese medical terminology.
All in all you get a fair amount of information for your money, although his thoughts on the amount of force to use do come across as a bit dated for our modern society.
The reason why this book is so great is that it is meant and written for the average person like you and me to understand. It talks about all the major weaknesses of the body and all the physical effects that will occur when hit with strikes of differing force. IT'S GREAT.
The book is also loaded with a plethora of pictures and maps showing all the body's natural vulnerable areas.
Bruce Tegner is an excellent author. Mr. Tegner explains in detail the legal definition of what self-defence is and what it is not. He did a ton of research to make this book. For example, he debunks all the mythical "deadly blows" and he talks about how television shows and Hollywood have heavily distorted what actual self-defence is. This will seriously educate anyone about what real self-defence is.
If you desire to protect yourself adequately and realistically,
THEN YOU NEED TO GET THIS BOOK!
