These guys are good marketers no doubt about it, but they bang on way too much about themselves in the beginning and the thing that really put me off is how they treat writing like a conveyor belt product from China - making money by churning out new stories weekly. I'm realistic not a precious artist who thinks I'm too good for marketing, but hell there's no way to write top quality content in their model, just pulp stuff that's as expendable as tissue paper. That said, they speak plainly and openly, they're not scammers and they know what they're doing. Just not my cup of tea, the world is already drowning in mediocre content in my personal opinion.

Published This book is easy to follow guide which runs over ten parts and broke down into thirteen parts. This book tackles every aspect of self-publishing from pre-publishing decisions to obtaining copyright, self-publishing audiobooks, paperbacks and Kindle books through to marketing the book. As well as how to translate the book for other markets. Another recommended read.

I really found this book to be a great help, just clarifying certain areas in publishing and delivering it in an accessible way really encourages you to keep trying and keep going. The authors have really done their homework and clearly have lots of experience to share in this format is great.

Common Sense is the basis for this book. It doesn't contain anything that can't be found out for free. I felt that authors spent to much time on themselves and not enough about helping to write a good book. As with swimming, the only way to write is to take the plunge and jump in the deep end. This book provides buoyancy aids but do they help or do you help yourselves?

Despite what many writers think of publishing house – dinosaurs, commercially driven, old technology- they do many things for authors that, as a self-publisher, you have to do for yourself. Once you go down this path you soon realise to be successful you need a wide range of skills and depth of knowledge on subjects not normal encountered. To have an accessible guide based on hard won experience provided by a pair of successful writers is a real bonus for aspiring, new, recent and seasoned writers. The 'Self-Publishing Books 101: A Step-by-Step Guide’ is just that.

Shelley and Heather have a no nonsense approach to writing. The narrative is tight – no swaths of text to wade through; the information current as an eBook its kept up to date (This book was published in 2012 and heavily revised in 2014); included are many embedded links to useful websites and resources and it covers the whole process including multiple formats.

Personally I like ‘How to …’ books as it saves me time and brain strain trying to work something out or making frustrating mistakes. I’ve picked up several useful tips from this book particularly in the area of hardback books, oversized print books, audio books and foreign language translation. Okay these topics are on the periphery for many new or recent writers but as you grow your back catalogue you will want to reach more and more readers. This book is a great place to start.

If you know nothing at all about self publishing and marketing your book, then this publication will be of some use. I'm afraid that this book does not provide any information that someone cannot get from googling a few key words. I would have liked more information on how to get reviews and marketing tips. Still I wish the author all the best. I may be a hard person to please and other people may indeed find this book useful.

I have no ambitions to become a self-publisher yet having read debut writers and those who have had to finance their works, I found this an informative treatise of how to set about realising the fulfilment of seeing your words in print. In an instructive and advisory layout, the authors explain their own history and the ways to tread carefully in going about delivering a viable marketable product. Those who have been and still are struggling in their determination to achieve a dream may well benefit from this book. I'm just an interested reader with a free download.

Useful reference, well written and well formatted. The authors have relevant experience self publishing and cover a wide range of topics from pre-publication, covers, distribution, marketing, creating audio/print versions, copyright, ISBN, translations. The book is meant to be an introduction and where it lacks detail the authors suggest additional resources for further investigation. A good intro.
