There's a spacious feel here, so I hope that means I will get away with what I think about STC without too many squeals from the devotees - he is absolutely dreadful. That the sublime Wordsworth would let this hysterical duffer within a mile of him is utterly surprising, and I'm with Byron when he wrote "Shall gentle COLERIDGE pass unnoticed here,/To turgid ode, and tumid stanza dear?", and brands him "the Laureat of the long-ear'd kind" (an ass, after yet another spectacularly awful poem). Look, I'm not just being fractious for the sake of it - "Whom the untaught Shepherds call/Pixies in their madrigal, etc, etc." Sam, you should've stuck with a day job, mate, and never mind the tedious Ancient Mariner with its trampoline-class rhythms and sixth-former's cod symbolism. Overrated codswallop - buy a collected Keats instead.

Coleridge is one of the greater poets out there. A character in himself, he manages to convey his believes and personality into his poetry. If you want to be inspired by poetry then I suggest that you read Coleridge.
