The main characters volunteering in an experiment in which they are to be put in a state of hibernation for three years, but when they are awoken, it turns out that fifty-three years have passed. They wake up in the world ruled by women with no men at all. In this world everyone is watched by cameras, tracked by GPS and drugged to ensure compliance. Decades have passed and the world has changed beyond recognition. There has been a world war, and the radiation from some sort of a bomb has had the result that no boys are longer born, meaning that our two guinea pigs are the only men on the planet. In this ideal feminist world men simply do not exist, other than in the legends of prehistoric oppressors of women. Technology has enabled test tube babies that guarantee only girls are born. There's no need for men anymore. The women see the guys as some type experiment that they can observe. However, the woman in charge of the experiments falls in love with one of the guys and ends up helping them escape. After another Juliusz Machulski's masterpiece Kingsajz (Kingsize), it's the one of the best anti-totalitarian movie ever created in Poland.
Digitally remastered picture and sound in Dolby Digital 5.1.
Extras (in Polish only) include: Illustrated booklet
Polish import. Plays in Polish with optional English subtitles (manual enclosed). Cover contains foreign writings.

Yes it is a little dated, I suppose that's because film has come a long way, mostly.
Well I can say with hand on heart, it is still the film I remember, I still find it funny, though maybe not as much as I did when I was 20, but hey I'm supposed to have matured. The film is almost 30 years old and it still is a hit with me.
Imagine, being put in a cryogenic state for a year and waking up 50 years later to find the world populated by women, and that you are the only man. The catch here is that men have been bred out of existence as there is no longer a need for them.
This is the story of two men trying to do their best to re-populate the world with men again.

It would be even better if it had English subtitles. I had to translate to my husband ,which it was ok but I am sure that he would enjoy it better with subtitles .
The story is about two men who are cytogenetically frozen and wake up in a strange world. It is an underground city in a post World War III world. But even more shocking is that there are no men. The two men are now captives in a world of women.
I have nothing but high praise for this movie and ranks among one of my favorite Polish films I ever watched. It so ingeniously blends an interesting story with humor that will make you laugh as well as think on some of the political commentary mixed into the story on the dangers of radical feminism. To top it off, most of the women in this world are nice to look at making it difficult to ask for anything more.
The movie begins with Maksymilian 'Maks' Paradys (Jerzy Stuhr) and Albert Starski (Olgierd Lukaszewicz) volunteering in an experiment in which they are to be put in a state of hibernation for three years, but when they are awoken, it turns out that fifty-three years have passed. There are many things that are a shock to Maks and Albert, but most of all is the fact that the world no longer has men. Furthermore, they are in an underground city in a post World War III world, so life is very different for them now.
The women see the guys as some type experiment that they can observe. When it turns out that the men have a drive to be free, they are viewed as a threat needing reconditioning (turning them into women). Maks is a bit of a goofball and while everything he says may not be funny, most of it is. The woman in charge of the experiment falls in love with Maks and ends up helping them escape. The glimpses of the underground world we see are very interesting indeed.
While the title of the film may seem erotic, Sexmission doesn't get too much into that. There is a bit of female nudity and eye candy, but by no means is it extreme. Sexmission has to be one of the best movies ever made by Juliusz Machulski and quite possibly one of the finest Polish movies made in the last several decades.
