Same goes for the Orient brand (their mako divers are some of the best watches you can find in their price range, and the same can be said about Seiko military automatic watches with the textile strap).
As far as this Seiko Kinetic goes, I was going to buy my father a quartz Certina or Tissot for christmas because he spends lots of time away from home and an automatic watch would always lose the time & date, so it had to be a quartz and I already had a certain Certina model on my mind that costs around 200 pounds.
But then I saw this Seiko on Amazon at a nice price (94 pounds) and decided to give it a shot instead since my father is actually more into Japanese watches than Swiss watches.
The quality of the watch is right there with a Tissot or Certina that cost double, I specially liked how the case and bracelet are sand blasted but the bezel around the dial is mirror polished and more shinny, it's a very clever idea to make the dial stand out more without the need of a color bezel or something like that.
Kinetic watches are NOT automatic like the tittle says, they use a battery, but if you use the watch the battery kind of charges with your movements (that's why they're called kinetic) and instead of 2/3 years like a normal battery life this ones can last for around 12 years, so instead of an automatic is more like a long life battery quartz.
The warranty covers 2 years I think, not that I expect a Seiko watch to give any problems at all in the first 5 years or so, and the white dial with gold inserts it's quite easy to read (something I took into consideration since my father is 62 years old and doesn't have eagle eyes like I do).
I like the watch a lot and I'm sure my dad will be happy with it too, I wouldn't pick the white dial version for myself and I don't really see it as a watch for young people (for example bellow 30) but I might buy the black dial version for me and put a nice black leather Hirsch strap on it to give it a more classy/formal style instead of the "sporty bracelet".
Definitely worth 90/100 pounds, and a master buy if you can find it bellow 70!
