What a LOVELY book!
Joe Clarke is almost positive he’s just cheated on his wife after waking up to his 25 year old intern lying next to him in bed. The trouble is, Joe remembers nothing of that night. Confused and guilty, Joe vows to be the best husband and father going forward. Until wife Penny finds out and leaves him.
Joe will do anything to get his family back - even when he realises that his marriage lies in the hands of the GHOST of his ex girlfriend.
The only reason I didn’t 5 Star this - was because I found the whole “ghost of ex girlfriend” thing really kind of irrelevant for most of the story. She “appeared” to him only around 3 times and didn’t “guide” him in any way at all, so her role was a little unclear to me. Having said that, I seriously enjoyed this. So honest and charming.
The book develops the storyline well and feels pretty real in the end. You can imagine Joe clearly. The consequences of his actions feel very real.
Overall a good holiday read and I would recommend it to any Mike Gayle fan.
If anyone is thinking of checking out whether the grass is greener on the other side, I suggest you read this book. For anyone having gone through separation and divorce, you'll be able to identify with the story, for anyone who hasn't, you'll truly wish you never have to.
A great read with thankfully a 'happy ever after'.
It certainly makes you think but also manages a laugh or two as well which has to be a good thing!
This book explores relationships and certainly made me make that little extra effort for those wonderful people in my life that I perhaps take for granted some time.
I'm a huge Mike Gayle Fan, I've read everything he's written so I've come to know what to expect with the quality of writing and great stories from a male perspective. However, Seeing Other People pleasantly surprised me with its unique plot line and had me in suspense and routing for Joe throughout the whole book.
If you've not discovered Mike Gayle yet, what are you waiting for!!
