I still love this one! Though not a domestic album, this CD contains some of Gene's finest moments from early John Peel sessions (featuring a fantastic piano version of "I can't help myself") to live recordings ("Haunted by you"). This compilation manages to get the ball rolling without any let downs or boring alternate takes. It is packed full of beautiful and awesome tunes of a band that should have gone further in their career. My reommendation: Buy it!

HASH(0x935b0d5c) out of 5 stars GENE criminally overlooked Brit band of the 90s This CD is AWESOME. 1 Dec. 2012

Awesome collection of various songs, B-sides, live tracks, cover version and alternative versions.

I bought this as an import the day it was available in the US and it's one of my fave GENE cds ( I own them all).

I'm actually repurchasing all my GENE cds as I gave them all to a friend who never returned them.

My most played GENE cd. Excellent value.

Essential for fans. If you're a first-timer, I'd buy the best-of set or Olympian.

HASH(0x9172a624) out of 5 stars a treat for Gene fans 10 Oct. 2005

i'm a big fan of this powerful english rock band so i was very excited to get my hands on this copy of their various b-sides and live stuff. lots of wonderful songs here and a few choice covers. "I Can't Decide If She Really Loves Me" stands out to me as a really great song that sounds different than other Gene songs...but fits so well in their sound. also, i love the live stuff from 1995 on here. i think it sounds so much better than the 2000 Rising For Sunset album.

this album is splendid, Gene fans, buy without fear.

HASH(0x91378f00) out of 5 stars Gene rocks again 28 Dec. 2002

Bit of a mixed bag this album, more suited to the dedicated fan than casual listener (although in my opinion you cannot be the latter wtithout converting to the former!). Live tracks from several albums plus a few repeats. Still a great addition to my Gene collection and I love this CD.
HASH(0x9137cce4) out of 5 stars Excellent odds and ends 14 May 2003

This is an excellent introduction to this band because it includes their hits up to this point and the b-sides, special recordings and covers. The only thing that I don't like about this is the fact that there are three versions of 'For the Dead' and none of them sound all that different. Good find for fans of the Smiths that wished Morrisey would've added a little muscle (guitar solos and more reaching effect)to his solo career. Much harder than them, but the singer sings in the same fashion.
