Basically the author gives good examples of limiting thoughts and their effects by taking us through 17 blueprints of the rich.
Best part are the action items at the end of each of these 17 ideas to follow that the author wants you to go out and try.
Well, going by this book, I should be a millionnaire soon (at least, to start with, I got to spell millionnaire correctly :-) )
Go for this book!
This book is written in a straight talking, no messing fashion, which (is stated) comes straight from Harv Eker's own experience. Well I liked it. When taken in it's broadest context, the metaphors within the text of this book can be applied to all areas of your life - and why not - cause this book is all about creating an abundance of wealth and happiness.
The use of a systematic approach to train yourself into a millionaire mindset is simple and effective and I now believe this can be learnt - time will tell...
Part one of the book explains the concept of a money blueprint: "your preset program or way of being in relation to money", which Eker suggests is the main predictor of financial success. Financial blueprints arise from past 'programming'-conditioned ways of thinking which affect how you relate to money. But new, helpful ways of thinking can be adopted in place of negative or financially unhelpful ones.
The second part forms the bulk of the book and compares the mentality of rich and poor people in seventeen specific and different ways. (Note: the use of rich and poor is as much used to describe the mentality of different people as it describes their financial success). These 'wealth files' are the ways of thinking to get into and adopt to start thinking like someone who sets out to get rich. At the end of describing each wealth file, there are declarations and actions to cement the rich mentality in your mind.
Overall the book delivered more than just exploring the mindsets of the wealthy. It is written in a jovial, informal, but incredibly inspirational way with ideas which have a good amount of applicability to other areas, like personal development, as well as hints and suggestions for generating more money (like passive income). There are lots of good quotes to go back to, and I fully intend to read the book at least once again.
This book DID have some good information but I was so frustrated by the constant sales pitch for Harv's Millionaire Mind Intensive that it was not enjoyable to read.
Every chapter, on multiple occasions, Harv explains that the only way to get the 'this' or 'that' bit of information is to attend the Millionaire Mind Intensive live workshop. It undermined the overall message he was trying to get across.
Personally I would recommend that you avoid this book and choose something else.
I'll explain: you do not have to follow your feelings, most people do, but it's a mistake as your emotions or feelings can be very deceptive. I learned not to always listen to my emotions. The preacher Smith Wigglesworth would say "I'm not moved by what I see or what I feel, but by what I believe." Another quote by Smith Wigglesworth is "Only Believe." The bible says the same thing - "If thou canst believe all things are possible to him that believeth."
What you BELIEVE leads to what you SAY and what you SAY leads to your ACTIONS, then your ACTIONS leads to your RESULTS. This is the true process of manifestation: You can HAVE what you SAY - Mark 11:23 - 24.
There is always a way to ACT on what you SAY.
Quote: "All what you are and all that you have today is a result of what you've SAID and BELIEVED in the past, according to your ACTIONS you receive or you're kept from receiving. Your ACTIONS either put you over or they keep you under. - Kenneth Hagin
Listen: Some good advice from part one - "A word of wisdom: Saving for a rainy day might sound like a good idea, but it can create big problems. .. If you are saving your money for a rainy day, what are you going to get? Rainy days! Stop doing that. Instead of saving for a rainy day, focus on saving for a joyous day or for the day you win your financial freedom. Then, by virtue of the law of intention, that's exactly what you will get.Read more ›
