Hmm, I got the feeling that the author must've been fed up with writing this and suddenly rushed to wrap up what should've / could've been the final quarter of the book and condensed it (badly) into the final chapter, it feels like a large chunk is missing !! Very abrupt ending, the phrase 'wishy washy' comes to mind, I was never really hooked by the storyline but it was pleasant enough to follow along at the even pace, then BANG, all is done and dusted in a couple of pages, very odd, I actually thought the lead character Annis might be dreaming, but no, the author just hit 'fast forward'. It left me feeling a bit confused, I rarely regret reading anything but I definitely feel like I've wasted my time on this, seriously disappointing, I wouldn't recommend.

A pleasant enough story, a bit predictable. The story plodded along and never actually got anywhere until the last chapter when it came crashing to an end. I've never read anything by Jenny Lane before and don't think I'll be bothering again.

Story line is fine, kept me interested and wanting to see where it would go. BUT, the entire book comes across as not really knowing which decade it is meant to be set in. Overly formal use of names (who calls anyone Miss now?). It feels like the book could have been written 50 years ago and had a few mobile phone calls tossed in to update it to 2014. Some characters are supposed to be best friends, yet they bounce back and forth between being that and being anything but that. Annis is treated like she created the disaster, instead of her being the one deserving of some sympathy. Ending was definitely rushed and wrapped up too neatly I'm glad this one didn't cost anything at the time I downloaded it.

This is a sweet story about love, friendship and family. Although we don’t witness her early devastation in the pages of the book, the impact on all involved are felt throughout the novel. Annis is a warm character who always has her friend’s back and who you root for from the start to find love and happiness in the end. Without giving too much away, there are a few surprises, but Annis is given the ending she deserves I feel.
