I have read many great parenting books which I have been putting to practise and couldn't understand why my 5yr old seems to be growing into a petulant, self serving, moody boy that thinks he is entitled to decide what he does and when he does it, and will start screaming and shouting at the drop of a hat. He is well behaved at school, intelligent and creative, so perhaps he was 'letting it all out' once he got home? (And before he leaves??!). ..Maybe it was his personality, as his 3yr old brother is already showing signs of being extremely empathetic, coopertative and affectionate...maybe, but that didn't really explain the total lack of respect he seems to have for me or his father and what we tell him to do - or should I make that ask - because that is one of the golden nuggets contained in this book; I see now where I have been going wrong and what I need to change.
What a relief to read such good solid advice that all makes so much sense to me that I'm convinced the author has got it right.
I have started using his advice straight away and while I don't expect to see a different boy wake up tomorrow morning, I know I'm on the right track and can turn things around.
I can still incorporate other techniques I have learned and will continue to learn from other books, because it all fits in; what I have read previously has its place, but it is only part of the equation - this book fills in the missing bits and I know it will change my style of parenting in all the places that will make the difference I need.
I will be insisting that my husband reads this book!
Thank you so much Mr Ronald G Morrish.
I was beginning to feel down and helpless at times when my son (only 4 yrs old this week) behaved badly. This book is very clear and easy to read. The tips work. We had such a good day today and I never had to raise my voice once, let alone shout. And this is after only one day. This will be one of the most important books I have ever read as my children, my husband and I will be happier and able to enjoy life together for years to come.
When I was teaching I often compared myself unfavourably with another teacher whose classes were so calm. Her pupils were polite and worked hard. She hardly ever shouted or raised her voice. I know know how she did it! It came naturally to her, but we can all learn how to do it using the tips from this book.
Incidentally, my husband and I have raised our children according to attachment parenting principles and this books methods still fit in with that. It encourages a positive relationship with your children and it requires you to spend time with them. It aims to help you educate your children to be responsible adults who care for others and this is an aim of attachment parenting too.

What else is there to say? Even if, as a parent, you're convinced you have a solid grasp on child behavior control and discipline you still need this book. It's that good. If I had my way I'd have this text be standard reading for all parents, potential and extant. Do yourself, your child, and our society a tremendous favor - buy this book, commit it to memory, and put it into action with your children. Now.
