I've just galloped through this book, and just as the author's first book in this series, I absolutely loved it. It is such a page turner, that you really don't want to
put it down. We are drawn into this web and you really want to find out who the Murderer is. I've read lots of Carol's books, and, I have to be honest here, after reading the lighter, earlier books, I am amazed at how she has taken to this genre so well. Who knew she had it in her! I cannot recommend this book highly enough and I'm now eagerly awaiting the third book in this series. As I said after finishing the first book, Little Girl Lost, these stories would make an excellent TV series, and I would be surprised if this doesn't happen at some stage. The characters are beautifully drawn, and you feel that you can almost see and touch them. Five stars all the way from me!

Now when I read the first book in this series, Little Girl Lost, I was really taken by Robyn Carter, her team and her cousin Ross and also by the brilliant and twisted way in which Carol Wyer spun her tale. The opening of the last book was tense and a little uncomfortable. It remained to be seen whether this new book could capture just a fraction of that tension again.

Didn’t have to wait long for the answer to that one… A resounding yes. Lordy this woman doesn’t take it easy on her victims. First up we have one red hot corpse, but it is unclear if this is the victim of foul play, a suicide or simply an accident. DI Shearer seems convinced of the latter but after a chance conversation with one of the victims friends, Robyn Carter just isn’t sure. The problem is that this isn’t her case and to investigate it would risk the wrath of not only Shearer but also DCI Mulholland.

It isn’t long before Robyn has her own suspicious death to worry about though, a murder scene at which a rather strange clue is left behind by the killer. When a second body is found with a completely different M.O. but the same clue left behind by the killer it is clear there is a serial killer at play here but Robyn has no idea of their end game. When the the team link the victims back to the same spa where Shearer’s victim was found, Robyn is more convinced than ever that something is not right but also that more people may be targets for the killer the press have branded the Lichfield Leopard.

This is one twisted book, the murders all different, all individually brutal and all the results of a very disturbed mind. The pacing is fast but not frantic and the continued development of the team’s characters is a delight to see unfold upon the page.

Loved this! The Author makes the characters very realistic and the story flows in twists that really keep you turning the pages. Warning, if you get this then make sure you have time free to read it, the washing piled up, no fingers cooked and the dog only had a short walk as I was hooked!!!!!

Carol Wyer has done us proud again! D I Robyn Carter is back with another tough case to solve. I enjoyed every paragraph of this book, as l knew l would. I like Carol' s writing style which sets a scene without over egging the pudding with unnecessary detail. The plot had me hooked in from the first page and the pace of the story is just right. I found this book hard to put down as l was desperate to know the ending, while also dreading reaching the final page. No plot spoilers. I will let my fellow readers discover what happens for themselves. A thoroughly recommended read. I am now waiting for the next D I Carter story (The Missing Girls) which l have already pre-ordered, to be published and can't wait to read it. Well done Carol for creating yet another gripping and entertaining story. I devoured it during my summer holiday in only a couple of days. Thank you.

I have to hand it to Carol, she does keep the reader guessing, and I wouldn't for one minute have thought it was who it was.

I like the characters and the plots are well thought out with twists and turns at every chapter.

Little by little it all comes together and Robyn manages to solve the case. I read this book in 24 hours so it definitely kept me wondering.

I shall now move onto the next one.

Absolutely loving the main characters, especially Robyn. I feel I am really drawn to this character & enjoy getting to know her more with each book.
I definitely recommend this book. You won't be dissapointed.
Well done Carol. Keep up the good work.
