About the Author

Hanna is Taiwanese by birth, British by education, pseudo-American by accent and Australian by residence! After graduating from Oxford University, she tried her hand at a variety of jobs before returning to her first love: writing. Hsin-Yi has always been searching for close encounters of the canine kind. Where other girls grew up pony-mad, Hsin-Yi was dog-mad: her favourite bedtime reading was the Encyclopaedia of Dog Breeds and her favourite activity was practising an really authentic bark. When she wasn't doing Rottweiler impressions, Hsin-Yi spent her time devouring mysteries. Her childhood idol was Nancy Drew - not just because Nancy could scuba dive, speak French, sell insurance and solve mysteries - often all at the same time - but also because Hsin-Yi really wanted "strawberry-blonde hair". It's perhaps fitting that now grown up, Hsin-Yi has launched her author career with a children's mystery series starring an enormous, slobbery dog. When she's not working on her next novel, she's usually found watching repeats of her favourite TV show, Fringe, or wiping Dane slobber off the walls. You can find out more about her (and the 'real-life Honey' who inspired the series) at: www.bighoneydogmysteries.com. Honey and her 'crew' are back again ;-)) Ruffster, Suka and Biscuit are all around and helping their biggest pal try to figure out just what is going on at the dog show.
The characters are well written, the story moves along at a good pace with plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested but without being over complicated for younger readers.
H.Y. really has a good understanding of doggie behaviour and manages to translate it fantastically into 'human' - having lived with both a Great Dane, a Husky and a crossbreed I can confirm she has their 'voices' just right although I must say that Honey is a lot brighter than our Dane was (mind you he was a boy so I think that might say a lot!)
I was hoping that Bean the puppy from #1 might have made a guest appearance but maybe next time - which hopefully won't be too long....

I've followed the amazing Honey through her blog and was saddened to read that she had left us and made her way to Rainbow Bridge. She lives on through the stories of the Big Honey Dog Mysteries. This book is as excellently written as the previous 2 books and is an enjoyable read for all ages. A charming insight in to the world of Great Danes. Easy to read and will certainly make you smile. Can't wait for the next book!

Though intended for children, this cozy mystery can be enjoyed by all ages. I especially enjoyed the book. It's a fun, fast-paced read and I think it's perfect for children in the 9 to 12 range. If your child loves dogs, they'll love this book. Best of all, it's a book that you and your family can enjoy together at bedtime. But, like I mentioned above, this book is not just for children. I'm 30 and thought it was great.

5.0 out of 5 stars which I really enjoyed. I don't know if it's because of some ... 7 July 2014

I've read the first book in the series, Curse of the scarab, which I really enjoyed. I don't know if it's because of some of the familiar characters coming together once again that made this story even more enjoyable. I really appreciated the funny moments in the story and there were touching scenes near the end that made me teary-eyed too. The story takes place at a dog competition so it was very interesting to learn about what actually happens at such an event. The story itself is very well-plotted, with mystery, danger, and adventure cleverly woven together and resolved satisfactorily at the end. Meaningful lessons of life are conveyed in a non-preachy way. What more could you want from a children's book?! Highly recommended!

An awesome addition to the previous book.. Totally loved it... :)
Just like the first book, i finished this book in one day.. Trust me, you just can't stop reading it..
The book teaches the ethical values both for humans and the dogs. Lets us know about the different breeds of dogs in the world and their characters well put in words. This book can help us understand how our pets feel, think and react to us. "Dogs do have feelings just like humans." The book says it all.. A very well written book.. Cant wait to share it with my friends. Eagerly waiting for the next in series.. :)

I am camping and have finished reading this book, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was amazing because as I was reading about the Ghost Dog howling, some foxes in the hills started howling, it gave me shivers, such a weird coincidence!
I love the characters and was in tears when I got to the Best in Show judging.
I won't write a description as others already have, so I'll just say thank you for writing another great book, and I am looking forward to any more that you write.

Once again Hsin-Yi has succeeded in writing a captivating novel. The story line was very interesting, full of twists and turns to keep the reader entranced and wanting to discover the mystery of the secret. With the ability to take the reader through all emotions, Hsin-Yi should be congratulated on her achievement. Great read.
