Product Description

Amazon Review

Secret in the Mist is a quality hard-cover picture book for 5- year-olds which tells the story of a little boy's delight when the seed he has secretly planted gradually grows into a magnificent sunflower. He has two secrets because the growing plant looks different by day and by night and the poetic quality of Margaret Nash's text is grounded by Stephen Lambert's lovely, friendly coloured pictures. This is an enchanting book. The slightly mysterious story introduces interesting and challenging words and the pictures beautifully capture the magic and mystery of the natural world. A reassuring story about love between parents and children and the wonder and excitement of childhood. -- Tamsin Palmer --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Jonathan Quist has two secrets; one is buried in a patch of sunny earth, the other in a patch of evening mist. Both secrets grow and grow until they are finally revealed to an enchanted audience.

This book has a wonderful magical feel about it, the boy in the story grows a sunflower from seed and watches each day as it grows. In his imagination he sees the flower at night as being his second 'secret'. A wonderful book that captivates our 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 year old girls each time they choose it as one of their bedtime stories. Having bought the book towards the end of the winter it made an ideal introduction to growing seeds and our girls now have their own 'secrets' growing.
