The method here behind the invention is a well heeled path from New Thought to New Age, Eastern Mysticism and Quantum Science which is hard to believe for a fairly diminutive read. The wide philosophical base is testament to Tad’s higher learning in esoteric studies, and a major nod to NLP, that essentially amounts to being at the cause rather than effect in one’s life when applying the divine equation.
As “always” in NLP speak making the magic accessible means breaking things down into patterns, tools and techniques and this book is no different even if it is about modelling a wizard! It starts with the seven Frames for programming your future incorporating the widely adopted business goal organiser: the SMART acronym, appearing first appeared in the November 1981 issue of Management Review. Through Tad’s inflection, SMART is turned into a practice for subconscious self control and personal transformation..way to go Tad...and, I have personally found that if by chunking up the seven Frames and SMART tool together as a set of meta statements the resulting conglommeration (SMARTC) has a mutually reinforcing effect - well it does for me! [the Frames are tagged below in brackets].
1. Simply Specific goals or frequencies - [Write/say what you want]
2. Measurable so you know when you get there or Meaningful by owning what is important - [Clarify values]
3. Act from desire using As if ‘now’ frame in All areas/parts - [Aligning thoughts with goals]
4. Realistic - [taking Responsibility (ecological) for where you are]
5. Timeline what you want - [Program inconsistent memories] by [Cleaning up incomplete in-contiguities]
6. Complete and [Play everything 100%]
Stylistically, I was reminded of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s ‘Little Prince’ in following the narrative of a higher being passing on their secrets to a younger initiate (called Milon). Also, in a few broad strokes Secret is a trimmed down version of ‘Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality’ (1988) as it describes the two internal time orientations, and the power of the temporal shift of “turning and looking towards the now” in the future or past after a clean up.
What this means is that after clearing up a person’s timeline it ‘automagically’ adjusts the intervening years to the now (whilst preserving the learnings) to incorporate the healing of what were previously incomplete in-contiguities. This is nothing short of extraordinary, and Bandler again has been credited by Tad and Woodsmall with early development into Timeline technlogy. According to this method past traumas (the event e.g. limiting decisions, guilt and emotions etc.) flatten in intensity and are neutralised in their negativity as pockets of energy of repressed material are released, so allowing a person to experience all that they can be in the future, rather than living a life of emotional reaction.
In summary this book is only ever likely to be a starting off point to more advanced material if following any of the golden threads. There is not really enough explanation for some of the concepts to stand up on their own but then is to be expected; but as a childrens’ bed time sleepy read.. well?
