I first made the acquaintance of Mr Andersen last year when his rather splendid "Something In Between" album was released. That album saw him wheeling in some big guns for a full band album, with the legends that are Norman Barrett on guitar, Dave Markee on bass and Henry Spinetti on drums all putting in a stint. He even had the ultimate accolade being interviewed by me, as well as becoming a regular visitor to the BBC studios.

This release sees him revisiting some old songs, returning to his acoustic routes, something he is even more adept at, if this is anything to go by. The sound is fleshed out from time to time with low key accompaniment, but it's basically Matt and his guitar that stays the focus. Ten originals and two covers (Bill Withers 'Ain't No Sunshine' and Steve Earles 'My Old Friend The Blues') fill out the release, but it's his songs that will have you coming back for more, with the delightfully spry and sprightly 'Just Don't Call Me' and the aggressive 'Tell Me' the absolute standouts.

He is outrageously talented on the acoustic guitar, filling out the sound in remarkable style. Add in his rich, vibrant voice to the excellent tunes and you've got what will, in all probability be the best acoustic Blues album you'll hear this year.

P.S. - don't nip off too early, or you'll miss the uncredited Blues jam.
