Review

"An engrossing read – wonderful.” Maeve Binchy

"Erin Kaye…gave up a career in finance to write, and that, along with her different background, gives her a breadth that many other popular writers here don't have – and makes her one of the best."
- Ann Dunne, Irish Independent Review

“Fresh, funny, utterly absorbing right from the first page and quite unlike anything else out there, Second Time Round is an absolutely must-read for anyone who'd ever thought that it was too late for love. Erin Kaye writes with wisdom, warmth and a lovely lightness of touch you'll adore. Be warned though; it's definitely a stay-up-till-all-hours- to-finish-it book!” Claudia Carroll

Erin Kaye is a new author to me and I have to say I really enjoyed this story about finding love, second time around.
The story drew me in from the very first page and I found it very easy to feel involved with the characters and care about them.
The plot surrounds Jennifer Irwin and the difficulties that occur within her family when they object to her relationship with Ben Crawford, who is sixteen years younger than Jennifer.
Ben Crawford is the heir to the Crawford Empire, but looks set to lose his inheritance if he defies his parents and continues to see Jennifer.
So with everyone against them, can Jennifer and Ben ever be a couple?
This is not just a romantic story, it's about families learning to be honest with each other and moving forward. It's also about following your heart. The story is engaging and written in an easy read style.
Recommended to anyone that enjoys a story about love, families and friendship.

Erin Kaye is an author I had not come across before, I loved the sound of the synopsis as it is a situation I am sure alot of people find themselves in when they have had a previous relationship which has ended and having the uncertainty of how the children will feel about a new relationship looming.

Jennifer who is our lead character is a loveable character and it is clear although her children are now grown up they are still the centre of her world and her emotions shown well in this book where she is torn between following her head or her heart as she really cannot bear the thought of disappointing her children but she has clearly fallen for Ben who although is younger in age comes across as a very mature character but |I think this is because of the characters background story.

This book flowed at a perfect pace and had me hooked from the first chapter the only time I was a little hesitant was when the religious aspect was brought into the storyline as I know we all have our own beliefs but I personally do not to read about religion but I needn't have worried as this didn't distract me from the storyline and it also had its own little twist!

The book was slightly predictable but it was great to see the journey the author created to get us to the predictable outcome. I will look for future books by this author as this was a great book and at a fantastic price on Kindle at the moment.

Enjoyed a previous Erin Kaye book so bought this. This started off with a "their eyes met across a crowded room" scenario and deteriorated further to Mills and Boon type slush. Not keen to read any more of her books now.

I dont mind a bit of romance, as long as it is intriguing, and well written, and not the run of the mill predictable and cliche. Unfortunately this was, and the only reason I bothered to continue reading it, was because I had paid for it. None of the characters had much depth, so I was not engaged or interested in them. Will not be reading more from this author.

This was my first Erin Kaye book never having read any of her work before.

All I can say is this was brilliant there were aspects of this story that I could identify with and at times I almost felt I was reading my biography she obviously has researched her material very well, I felt an affinity with Jennifer and at times got so angry with her family and actually wanted to hit Oren.

Highly recommend this book a must read I will now try some of her other books.

I have only just discovered Erin Kaye. This very moving story was a lovely read. The sacrifice made by the heroine was understandable but not justified. The `older` woman and her young lover, why not.A beautifully written book that I could not put down Erin is just as good as the likes as J.Trollope and A.Brookfield.

Not my usual read but I enjoyed it as I feel these circumstances are a very real possibility. Mature woman with grown up family in a relationship with a young man and of course it meets with disapproval. I thought the characters were credible and the dilemmas each has to face and come to terms with very realistic

I read Second Time Around in a few days - I couldn't put it down. I loved every aspect of the story which took you off in different directions and then brought you back again. A lovely love story with excellent characters. Yes, you could say it was predictable in some ways, but I like a story which throws you around in the knowledge that everything will be okay in the end - in this case not everyone had a happy ending but it was the right ending I think. I have read a number of Erin Kaye's books and have enjoyed them all so I will definitely be reading the next book she writes. They are very easy to read and the stories quickly grab you which is what I need at the end of a long busy day - a book to take me into someone else's life and lets me switch off from my own for a while - this hit the spot.
