Calibre is don of Drum & Bass - the tear-out crew bow down to his technique, the liquid funksters mimic his moves, the pioneers aclaim him like no other. This album is smooth in a way dance has forgotten to be, crisp like the chilled autumn air its released into, dubbed like mad professor.
Of course the fact that belfast boy Calibre cant get his records stocked by sodding high-street chains 20 miles down the road isn't going to help but this album will appeal to anyone who knows. Beat Headz, Bassbin Bugs, Chillout compilers.
ESSENTIAL.

If you are reading this you are probably well aware of the talents of Calibre.
However if you are not then this album is a great taste of how drum & bass can be heard & enjoyed by all.
Try listening to some of the sample clips on youtube & make your own mind up, personally this would be one of my 10 desert island discs (Showing my age!).

This is very good. Second Sun is easily accessible and unlike many of his D&B contemporaries Calibre doesn't make the fatal mistake of trying too much and coming up short. He sticks to the blueprint and delivers much more in doing so. More importantly Second Sun is refreshinlgy simple. It kicks off with the jazzy 'Bullets' featuring Diane Charlemange. This great number is followed by neat and solid tracks - particularly 'Drop it Down' featuring Singing Fats - a slick bouncy number and 'Blink of an Eye' featuring Lariman with its spooky spoken lyrics and dark Leftfield undercurrents. A couple of dubby tracks finish off what is a pretty solid piece of work. This guy knows his stuff and it shows.
