About the Author

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending around the corner, My character have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy and that includes love. I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

This story is about Marcus the playboy of the group of friends. Emotionally damaged by his parents Marcus doesn't do relationships he only wants one night stands until a new dancer starts working at the club. Tyler was to be a professional dancer until his life changed when his sister left her daughter Lillie with him and disappeared. Tyler thinks Marcus is a conceited arrogant ass who only wants Tyler for a night. Circumstances bring them both together and Marcus realises there may be something to this monogamy that his friends have. Can Tyler trust Marcus with his heart and can Marcus finally trust someone to love him for him not for his money. Well written with likeable characters and a good overall story. Recommended.

This is the third book in the Breakfast Club series and my most eagerly awaited. Marcus was the one character from the series that has always held my attention, knowing that his outward charismatic persona was hiding a whole lot of pain inside. Oh yes this complex man finally unpeels those layers and lets that special man in. That man being Tyler.

Marcus is the owner of the hot gay nightclub in town, Sparks. He is the ultimate life and soul of the party who draws everyone in with his charisma. He can flick his fingers and take his pick of hot men for a night’s hook up which he often explores. Not many know the true Marcus, even his best friends Zach and Julian don’t know everything. But then Taylor comes into his life which is the catalyst for the changes Marcus has been secretly yearning to do for so long, especially now both Julian and Zach are so loved up with their new partners.

Taylor is a struggling dancer, after giving up his dreams to care for his young niece, he takes a job at Sparks which is not something he ever thought he would need to do. He’s heard of his new boss’ reputation and vows to stay well away from this man-whore. But then he wasn’t prepared for the instant attraction and pull this sexy arrogant man gave out to him. No matter how hard he tries to push Marcus away, it seems fate has other plans in store for this gorgeous pair.

I just knew I would love Marcus’ story and I was not disappointed. To see the gradual unravelling of this complex man was intense and emotive. Both he and Tyler have a lot of damage and hurt from the past to come to terms with in order to move on which together they achieve a stronger and more beautiful future.

Second to None, Felice Stevens

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, LGBTQIA

I really liked the sound of this, but it wasn’t the hit for me I’d thought it would be. It was a good read, one I enjoyed but not a great read, one I’d keep to reread.

I liked the characters, but to be honest I liked the secondary characters, the club staff, Marcus friends and their partners more than Marcus or Tyler!! I didin't dislike them, just found niggles that irritated me. I just found Tyler exasperatingly awkward in some ways. I really admired the way he took on Lillie and she was such a gem, but his pride, his seeing every simple gift as an attempt to “buy” him, got old after a while. I understand pride, but sometimes when we need help we have to accept it and by throwing back Marcus help he was upsetting him to the point of rudeness. There’s a difference between a genuine attempt to help, buying things because they’re needed, a true gift, and someone using money as a bribe. Tyler didn’t always understand as he’d not been in that position with money, and Marcus too had trouble seeing Tyler’s views as he’d never been without. Then there’s Marcus and his solution to every problem seemed to be throw money at it - I understood both sides but it still annoyed me.....

Then they get thrown by circumstances into a position where they are very close, and they get to see each other in a different light, and start a relationship much to each’ surprise. Neither expected or even really wanted that, and yet life has sorted it for them ;-) And then....well, there’s drama, and once more their relationship gets tested and they have to make some hard choices, looking at what they have a deciding what they will lose with each course of action.

Zach has been my favourite member of the Breakfast Club, and to be honest, Marcus annoyed me in both previous books with some of his quips and comments. However, I was desperate to read his book and find out more about him. And boy, is there more to him than meets the eye!

The chemistry between Tyler and Marcus is as instantaneous as it is explosive, but Tyler is determined not to become another notch on the office couch. He pushes Marcus away, and only sees what Marcus allows him to see. It takes comments from other people for Tyler to question whether Marcus is all flash and sparkle, or whether that is a diversion. Also, there are a couple of circumstances where Marcus behaves differently to what Tyler expects.

With both of them having issues to deal with, this is an intense and steamy romance, with plenty of action both in and out of the sheets. This was a fantastic conclusion to the story, guest starring Micah and Josh from Memories of the Heart, and also showing how Julian and Zach have both changed since finding their partners. Absolutely loved it and highly recommended!

* I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. *
