About the Author

Fay Keenan was born in Surrey and raised in Hampshire, before finally settling in the West Country. When Fay is not chasing her children around or writing, she teaches English at a local secondary school.  She lives with her husband of fourteen years, two daughters, a cat, two chickens and a Weimaraner called Bertie in a village in Somerset, which may or may not have provided the inspiration for Little Somerby.

Having lost my reading mojo I found myself browsing through the Amazon Kindle chart and came across The Second Chance Tea Shop by Fay Keenan, the cover and title instantly drew me in and once I read the synopsis it had me sold and I wasted no time in getting stuck in.

After the loss of her husband Anna decides it is time for a fresh start for her and her adorable little daughter Ellie and so she returns to her childhood village of Little Summerby to be close to her best friend and to have the chance of a new career running the village Tea Shop. As she paves a new life in her new home things are looking up but with a possible romance around the corner with the handsome Matthew Carter will she be able to open her heart again and get her happy ever after?

This book was the perfect read for me that I discovered at just the right time. I was instantly pulled in to the storyline from the opening chapter and Anna soon touched my heart and had me longing for her new start in Little Summerby to be a successful one.

There are a number of key characters in this book but one of my favourite alongside Anna has to be Matthew Carter's daughter Meridith who was such a friendly and mature teen who brought a touch of humor to the book with her less discreet match making and dating tips!

Although there is a big Teashop craze gracing the bookshelves recently this one doesn't feature heavily around the Teashop which as much as I love a cosy community tea shop with the hustle and bustle this book didn't feel like it was missing anything by not featuring the teashop more, we were still treated to some delicious mouthwatering cakes to keep our tummy rumbling!

I loved this book. It is beautifully written and I read it in a day. It's so easy to fall in love with the characters, and identify with them. Little Somerby sounds like an idyllic village; I would love to have somewhere like The Little Orchard Tea Shop where I live. I can see this being made into a series or a film. Very much looking forward to reading book two now.
I definitely recommend you read this!

I really enjoyed the book, I became really engrossed in the characters, and living along the strawberry line as I do, tried to match them
With people I know!! The story was easy to read, and follow, but had a few unexpected turns and was not too predictable. I eagerly await the sequel.

I loved the world of Little Somerby and can't wait to visit again in the next book. Although the story centres around Anna and her search for happiness, it is the little glimpses given into the lives of other villagers that truly brings the world of Little Somerby to life. I can't be the only reader wanting to find out more about the origins of the Carter's cider farm, Jack's wayward 'ramblings' as a younger man and the formidable Miss Pinkham? A fantastic debut and one I would thoroughly recommend.

A lovely romantic debut, I thoroughly enjoyed it - gorgeous setting, engaging characters, lots of plot, delicious sounding cakes and lashings of alcohol - my perfect combination! Anna and Matthew don't get off to the best start but the story doesn't continue down the moody love/hate relationship I was anticipating and instead offers a touching love story with plenty of twists and turns which keep you engaged throughout. The story focuses on a small number of main characters but we meet many residents of the village - I see a follow up is planned and look forward to following somebody else's journey within the same setting, as well as hearing more about Anna, Matthew, Meredith and Ellie.

Just finished this book and really enjoyed it! Love the seasonal description and local references. The writer's character really shines through her characters with warmth and good humour. I would love a sequel with Mrs Pinkham- I reckon she's a bit of a minx 😁😉😉

I absolutely loved this book. The wonderful way in which it was written means as a reader, you become captivated. The descriptions of a beautiful rural village, the charming yet intriguing characters, the unfolding storyline and the journey each character takes - all portrayed in such a vivid manor, you feel part of the story almost immediately. Matthew Carter .. a wonderful, but sometimes complex character was absolutely great to get to know and I feel he deserves a special mention ;-). I absolutely recommend this witty, entertaining, charming and heartwarming book. I can't wait for the sequel.

I don't like light sloppy romances but this book had several strands of different peoples stories cleverly interwoven and all the characters seemed very real.I look forward to the author next book
