So the first physical single from the new album is, for some reason, Second Bite of The Apple (rather than the obviously superior Flick of the Finger). This song borrows, in its intro, from U2's Dirty Day before Liam sings some of the worst lyrics he has ever written, and that's saying something. "Tickle my feet with the NME... yeah, you're not wrong, she wants to know what's in your pocket" are two examples, but there are many, many more. Definitely one to avoid, and the wrong choice of single, on an otherwise very encouraging album. Other than for the record collectors, this is one single to avoid.

The b-side is also woefully bad, a reverse of album closer Start Anew, which is actually a really good song. Why not one star you may ask? Well, by Liam standards, this is quite different sounding. For that, and that alone, Beady Eye deserve credit.

A song without a tune, music with poor lyrics, a band without a direction. How the mighty has fallen.

The production is palatable but talk about throwing everything at it. It sounds like they tried to reinvent Shakermaker for the 60's generation and made something truly dreadful. It's just a wall of white noise towards the end, very painful.

I imagine the Oasis come back may come sooner than we thought. I was once a huge Oasis fan (saw one of the brilliant Maine Road gigs of 96) in the day but unlike the Roses come back, I think the Gallagher's will be (when it happens .. and it will) surprised as to how little people will be interested.

When Oasis split (and the time was right) they killed the band off, sometimes you just run out of ideas, it happens to most bands after 3 albums. Their subsequent acts have been lacklustre to say the least. It's a good job they have a solid Japanese market.

After their poor debut album 'Different Gear Still Speeding', they needed something massive this time around.

This doesn't cut it I'm afraid. The second bite of the apple contains maggots.

This is a great song, not only because Liam Gallagher's vocals have improved/softened, its because it shows that Beady Eye are evolving and improving as an overall band, and using their own styles rather than recycling old sounds. This and Flick Of The Finger are far more ORIGINAL, and prove that we're seeing a real Beady Eye album on the horizon, rather than a tribute to the 60's. 5 Stars.
